"This is savory cabbage at it's best! I have made this recipe without the stout, subbing 3 cups of beef stock & 1/4 cup cider vinegar instead, and it still turned out great following the rest of the recipe. Even if I sometimes don't have time to cook the other veggies, I will start the corned beef, then later follow the cabbage & onion directions ""
