Reviewed Frankly Fake Fudge - Sugar Free

Nov 11, 2011 in on

Have had this recipe for years. Finally got around to using it. If you like dark chocolate and you are watching your carbs, this recipe can be for you. I use Raw Stevia, pure with no additives for my sweetner. I think if one wanted it sweeter they could beef up the amount of sweetner. I liked it just fine as is. I also added Hazelnut extract...

Reviewed Springerle (Molded Christmas Cookies)

Oct 20, 2011 in on

This is the basic recipe that my husband brought back from Germany about 48 years ago. The difference I make is sprinkling anise seed on the sheets and laying the molded cookes on top. As they dry they press into the anise. (rather than flouring the sheets) These can also be done substituting other flavorings such as lemon or orange oil"

These do work in a dehydrator! I have been making them for years though I use regular granulated sugar cinnamon mixture. We have 26 apple trees with 25 varieties, mostly for cider making. We have found that the best apples for dehydrating are the red delicious. Fact is, it is the only way we like the reds. We do not peel them, but rather core...

Reviewed Sauteed Swiss Chard (Don't Be Afraid!!!)

Interestingly I wanted to use up an abundance of Romaine. This recipe worked great. Though I keep a mix of butter and olive oil in the fridge and used it. The rest was just about right. It was good. Tomorrow I do the Chard, as I now have an abundance of it in my garden."

I love chard. I steamed the chard with minced garlic, to cut down on the fats. I also used a butter spray with the eggs, and cut the eggs down to 3 which is almost more than the two of us seniors can eat. to make this more healthy. Rather than salt, I sprinkled in a few bacon crumbles A great omlet."

Reviewed Honey Glazed Carrots

Awesome. Today, collecting my bountiful baskets I ended up with 2 lbs of carrots, and most of a lb in the fridge. Since there are just 2 of us, I went to the trusty ole Internet and found Sunny's recipe for glazed carrots. I always read the ratings for ideas. Saw one adding cinnamon and/or nutmeg. So I gave it a bit of zing with cardamon. ...

Reviewed Roasted Turkey Breast With Zesty Dry Rub

Jul 18, 2011 in on

Was intrigued by several of the ingredients. Split a turkey breast as I am down to my toaster oven temporarily. Did the first half without marinating. It had a good flavor, but not the pizzazz I was expecting. Did the second half the next day after marinating over night. Wow! It made the best turkey sandwich. My son's reaction when he dropped...

Can't miss w/ crepes. I make so many variations of this. Instead of white flour I often add 1/3 c of whole wheat per cup of milk for a little more nourishment. I also add seasonings like cinnamon and nutmeg to the crepe. Great for desserts, breakfast and supper. Today, i acually added some Italian seasoning and additional chopped Rosemary. I...

This is a great basic recipe. It can be added to with dried and/or freeze dried fruits after it has baked. I also add cracked flax seed and sesame seed. Because my DH is allergic to honey I substitute it with agava. I also have substituted with grapeseed oil. It is lighter and we prefer it. We always double the recipe to go with our homemade...
