Great flavor combination. EZ to put together. The 3 condiments are make ahead (I keep the cheese sauce in my little crockpot or reheat on very low). Adaptable to what's in the frig. One of the few "fancy" burgers my husband likes. That's 5 out of 5! It does make more cheese sauce than necessary, but we suffer through that by eating it on nachos th"

Reviewed Basic Chicken Stock

Aug 16, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Best stock ever! I deglazed the chicken pan with water and scraped up all the brown bits. The veg roasting was new to me - brilliant! Left the onion & carrot peels on for a deeper color and flavor, and deglazed that pot too. I also added about a dozen black peppercorns. Skimmed scum with a slotted spoon. I never salt or add water; but freeze well "

This is fantastic if you do it right. I flew to France and bought several grape vines (with roots) from a Bordeaux vineyard, then transplanted them in my cousin's California backyard. Several years later, I was able to pick a few bunches of grapes and had them smuggled into a North Pole expedition for freezing (there's really nothing better than p"

Reviewed Monster Snack: Spicy Meat and Cheese Stromboli

May 14, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

It was very good. I liked the mix of meats, the coating for the bread(most of it), and the dipping sauce. Didn't like the canned pizza dough (will use Alton Brown's), the dried herbs and garlic on the outside (will omit), and the chunky/watery marinara (will puree). The directions were confusing; I just made one big rollup and sliced it. Very pre"

It was good and it was easy. I agree that the gravy needs to be defatted. I probably won't make again, tho. I have a recipe we like much better (Huber Keller's)."

My husband liked it pretty well. I thought the cheese tasted strange. It was fun to try something new, but probably won't do again.""

It was pretty good, but the red onion was very strong despite marinating several hours & I couldn't taste the ginger. I'll make some tweaks next time. ""

The marinating & cooking method were perfect. Loved the specific instructions. For us, too much lime & not enough heat & sweet in the marinade/sauce. Will adjust for that next time.""

Made the whole dinnner menu. All the dishes were very good, they went well together, and it was EZ. Also cheap & leftovers reheated well. So 5*; really can't ask for anything more! ""

It was ok, but the cream just sat there in the bottom of the dish. It should have been thickened up a bit, more like a sauce. The croutons were good, but way too big and they just sat there on the top. The individual components were good, but the dish didn't really come together for me. ""

I looked at a lot of puttanesca recipes & decided to make this one. It was great! I especially liked the tips for presentation; it can be hard to make a bowl of pasta look pretty. Hubby liked it too and I will definitely make again. To suit our taste, subbed parsley & oregano for basil and used less pasta. I think that tomatoes, especially canned...

This is a very good sauce; I think the anchovies are what's missing from some recipes. Sorry, but I totally disagree with the comment below about not needing sugar. Sugar DOES cut the acid, and should ALWAYS be added to canned tomatoes IMO. Fresh tomatoes may or may not need it. If you can't taste the difference, I think that's unusual but tastes...
