Reviewed Rum Raisin Tiramisu

"Usually enjoying the simplicity and taste of Ina's recipes, I was saddened to taste this dessert. It truly was too much rum and not the typically good balance of sweet and savory...in this case 'kick' as another reviewer suggested. The simplicity was there, the flavor too overwhelmingly rum. I might consider making this again with 1/4 of the ca""

Reviewed Pumpkin Oatmeal

"I was just going to write a review for the omelet recipe you shared during the same show, but this pumpkin oatmeal was fantastic! The amazing blend of pumpkin, almond, and oatmeal flavors was unexpectedly complimentary. I made this a gluten free meal by adding gluten free oats and shared this with friends for dinner...image their surprise when I served breakfast at 8...P.M.!! Everybody raved about the flavor and texture of the meal, as well as the fact that they thought this would make a great dessert! The kids thought it was a treat to have something THIS good as their supper. Thanks, Aarti...another winner.

Reviewed Indian Omelet

"Wonderful! Aarti, you always seem to have a great way to simplify yet intensify the recipes you create/share. The omelet was superb...I only changed one thing...I added shallots instead of onions, and I did saute them slightly before adding into the eggs. The spices were simple yet complex and really did add a new dimension to the 'omelet' we're used to. Keep 'em coming!! Love your blog!!

Reviewed Chicken Cacciatore

"Very well conceived dish...made it gluten free simply by dredging in sweet rice flour. Omitted the capers and wine. Used boneless breasts and thighs which worked very well. Made it in the slow cooker! Mixed all the spices and veges. I added an extra green pepper, used fire roasted diced tomatoes, and used shallots in place of the onion. Then browned the chicken. Layered half the chicken into the slow cooker then half the vege/spice mx. Then the rest of the chicken, then the rest of the vege/spice mix. Cooked 6 hours on Low, and it was superb! Tender, juicy, and served over polenta, a meal fit for the entire family...even the kids!

About Me

An avid cook and baker, as well as a Celiac disease sufferer, I have spent several years modifying many of my favorite 'traditional wheat' recipes, making them not only tasty and healthy, but fun and gluten-free.  I have a cookbook in the works, and just started a food blog this past summer (2010) inspired by Aarti of the Food Network.  Please see my blog if interested in seeing a few of the things I have created!   http://scottseasygf.blogspot.com/
