Reviewed 4 Minute Spicy Garlic Shrimp

Jan 13, 2014 on

I had my doubts given this recipe was so quick and so few ingredients! But it was so much more delicious than I thought it was going to be! I added a LOT more crushed red pepper, used salt and pepper vs grill/steak seasoning, omitted parsley and added two pats of butter towards the end! Delicious and easy weeknight meal!

This was delicious! I used four cheese ravioli from Whole Foods and followed the recipe exactly and everything turned out great -- wouldn't change a thing.

SO GOOD!! I halved the recipe and since I don't have buttermilk on hand, I used 1/2 tbsp vinegar + enough milk to make 1/2 cup. I also used instant coffee because I took my regular coffee to work by accident. It all turned out so delicious. "

Reviewed Cupcake Icing for a Crowd

Jul 5, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This icing was probably one of the best I've tried so far but goodness the sugar is just TOO much. Confectioners sugar is very sweet, so to add THREE POUNDS is pretty gross. I kinda knew that going into it so I started adding it really slowly and then tasted it as I went along. In the end, I used less than half of what the recipe called for. I"

Jul 5, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This is a great traditional potato salad! I was looking for something traditional without any weird twist so I used this recipe. Four stars instead of five because I had to make some modifications! I omitted the mustard, added 1 red onion, omitted green onion, used 1.5 cups mayo (instead of the recommended 2.5!), added ground black pepper and a"

This was absolutely delicious. I went for the jarred marinara (I know I know) due to time constraints but it turned out amazing and I even forgot to add parsley! Other than that I followed the recipe exactly and it was wonderful!"

Reviewed Spaghetti alla Carbonara

FANTASTIC! I used bacon and used dried parsley instead of fresh and this was a big hit! My husband loved it and keeps looking at the pictures I took of it and wants me to make it again :) I was so worried about the eggs scrambling but they didn't, I followed the instructions exactly! Next time I may add some mushrooms and/or sundried tomatoes...

Reviewed Korean-Style Pork Wraps with Chili Sauce

Jan 30, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

My review is probably my own fault as I used a few substitute ingredients because I really wanted to make these but didn't want to go out and buy everything I didn't have. I felt like this lacked flavor. I used minced onion instead of green onion and vegetable oil instead of sesame oil. I wrapped everything in a tortilla and topped it with som...

OMG this was INCREDIBLE! I actually did not find it to be that labor intensive as so many people have said!! The only thing I changed was that I used dried parsley instead of fresh and I omitted the butter! I used an organic Marinara Sauce from Whole Foods. My husband couldn't get enough of this! Giada you're the best :)""

Nov 30, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This was DELICIOUS! A BIG hit at our Thanksgiving dinner!! I couldn't find pumpkin pie filling so I bought 30 oz of fresh pumpkin and added 1/2 cup sugar (the can says to put a lot more but it's way too sweet if you do), 2 tsp ground cinnamon, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp ground ginger and 1/2 tsp cloves. Be careful with the cloves because if you get a b...

This review is ONLY on the gravy. The gravy turned out great but I did have to add about a teaspoon of corn starch to get it to thicken because the flour wasn't enough. It was a little salty though so be SURE to use low sodium chicken broth! The grocery store was out of the low sodium one so I used the regular one.""

Reviewed Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Nov 30, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I thought these were good but not amazing. They are easy and tasty though. My husband likes mashed potatoes not too whipped and fluffy so I made them a little chunky style which is not my favorite style so that's why it probably wasn't my favorite. But after the potatoes were done boiling I put them in the KitchenAid and added the ingredients ...

Reviewed Almost-Famous Cheddar Biscuits

Nov 30, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

These were AMAZING. My only complaint is that I wish I had made more! And they taste the best right out of the oven. I never have shortening so I replaced it with butter and I baked it at 500 degrees for 6 minutes. I did a lot of research on perfecting biscuits and the biggest tips were: 1. Make sure you have baking powder that's not older th...

Nov 23, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This was DELICIOUS but I did make quite a few changes: Used a yellow cake mix and made the cake according to instructions...after it was done, I cut it horizontally to make two layers, on the first layer I put the custard and then layered fresh sliced strawberries on top (I omitted the glaze altogether), then I put the second layer of cake on to...

I really wanted to love this recipe but mine didn't turn out well at all. I'm sure it was probably my fault as this is only my second time using yeast, but I wasn't happy about it. First of all, when I was baking the buns, they didn't rise at all. And without the icing, they weren't sweet at all despite the sugar that goes into it. I think I ...

I was skeptical when I first tried this out because usually bread has to rise twice for 45 minutes each but omg I was so impressed! This turned out amazing and I even screwed it up! A good way to get your bread to rise is to preheat your oven to 100 degrees...after it's done preheating, turn it off, and then put your bread in there to rise. I ...

Reviewed Macaroni and Cheese

Oct 19, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This recipe was AMAZING. I skimped out on the extra Fontina cheese on top and it still turned out amazing. I added crumbled pieces of bacon and breadcrumbs before baking and it gave it a PERFECT crunch. I used about 1 3/4 cups of elbow macaroni instead of egg noodles to give it more of a "macaroni" feel. Before I put it in the oven, it was su...
