This is a great dessert. I've made it several times for company and everybody asks for the recipe. It's hard to find ladyfingers, so I use vanilla wafers. It's important NOT to assemble this in advance, or the cookies will turn to mush. I also double the amount of mango - it's the most important part of the recipe. I top the dessert with broken c...

Reviewed hanger steak sandwich with bourbon creamed spinach

Mar 20, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Five stars for being so unique. Great flavor and easy to make. I took the reviewer's advice and squeezed all the liquid out of the spinach with a dish towel. The sauce actually needed a little more moisture, so when I removed the steak, I transferred the sauce to the steak pan and stirred it into the drippings. Yum!

These taste even better a couple of days later. Watch the liquid while cooking as it'll easily boil over. I used grainy dejon mustard from Trader Joe's. Great flavor.

That wasn't mold -- it was flour on the crust of the bread."

Not a raisin fan so substituted raisins with 1 cup of mini chocolate chips and created the perfect cookie. I agree with the previous reviewer that a little more cinnamon can only make them better."

There's nothing wrong with this recipe, but my impression was that it's quite bland. It wasn't salty, just didn't have much flavor. I added a couple of shakes of cayenne which helped. Doubt I'll make it again."

Delish! I used a big can of San Marzano tomatoes instead of fresh. Perfect comfort food."

Thank you to the reviewer "Jess". I also omitted the apples. I used lots of onions and sliced mushrooms in the pan sauce. I also used brandy instead of Calvados. The pork was tender and juicy, however, I wish I had trimmed all of the fat from the edges prior to cooking because it's hidden under the sauce. Served the dish with boiled red potatoes, "

Jul 20, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I figured these would be great, but they weren't. Like the other 2-star reviewer, there was no flavor. There was a nice crunch, but the flavorless planko drowned out the flavor of the asparagus. Most were left on the serving plate."

Feb 3, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Tasted good, but loaded with guilt. I generally won't sacrifice taste for calories -- I try to eat smaller portions of really good food. However, when I lifted the bread off the pan to cut it, the pool of melted butter/cheese left on the pan was a clear indication of way too much volume of ingredients that should be used in moderation. The scallions...

Jan 19, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I want to give 5 stars for the Chicken Fried Steak and 3 stars for the gravy. The steak was perfect.

The gravy was way too heavy and didn't have enough flavor. If you're going to make the gravy, I'd recommend using half the flour, eliminate the cream and thinning with beef broth. I think I'd use a spicy sausage next time.

Reviewed Brioche and Berry Bread Pudding with Lemon Fondant

Jan 16, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I flat out loved this dessert and the prep time was less than 15 minutes. Use whatever berries you have -- the mix isn't important. I served it with whipped cream.

Reviewed Chicken Paillard with Creamy Parmesan Salad

Jan 16, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Chicken was good and easy. The salad dressing was a little heavy on the lemon. I used half spinach and half arugala and no mozzeralla. I think I'd throw an avocado in the salad next time.

Loved the Cognac Cream and didn't have the thickening problems mentioned below. Next time I'll add more berries and use less whipped cream on the top. My guests loved it.
