Reviewed candy corn popcorn balls

5 days ago on FoodNetwork.com

I had the same experience with the popcorn burning with the sugar. I think the theory behind the sugar is that you're essentially making kettle corn, which puts a protective coating on the popcorn, ensuring that it doesn't get soggy immediately after it mixes with the wet ingredients (or shortly thereafter). I thought the flavor, especially mixed...

Reviewed Red Velvet Sheet Cake with Classic Red Velvet Frosting

Dec 20, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

I love that someone finally showed how to make the ORIGINAL red velvet cake! My great aunt has been making this recipe since the 50s- I always loved it but don't have much talent when it comes to layer cakes. The fact that this is a sheet cake makes it all the better. Way to go Ree!

Our first day in Maine, we sat at the counter at Becky's with our young kids (to whom the waitstaff was so accommodating!), and feasted on the yummy lobster rolls and fried clams. (my 4-yr-old had PB&J) We're from the Midwest, so this was a real treat. It's a no-frills diner on the edge of the commercial area of Portland, but the food is delish,"

The coating was delicious, but the chicken itself was definitely lacking salt- very bland (but my fault)."

Made it for the kids on Christmas, and it was a BIG hit! Possibly a bit too sweet for grown-ups (maybe replace ginger ale with club soda...or something stiffer), but kids love it, and it's so festive. I would let the sherbet melt first before adding because it looked very "gloppy" for a long time. I also did an ice ring with just water and mar...

Loved it!! Made it for Christmas dinner alongside beef tenderloin, and everyone raved about the mushrooms. I did the 6-hour covered cooking time the day before, then reheated and did the 3-hour uncovered cooking on Christmas Day. That way the flavors were able to marry overnight in the fridge. I even used some of the cooking liquid as a base ...

Just OK- nothing special. Kids and husband ate it, but probably won't make it again. No complaints, but no rave reviews either...
