Reviewed Spicy Merguez with Spinach and White Beans

Mar 4, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Made this last night with some wonderful merguez from the farmer's market. Used dried cranberry beans instead as we already had them. Really a wonderful dish. Your mouth will find a different flavor at every turn. Definitely a hearty dish probably best served in the dead of winter. Thanks for sharing, Ina!"

While very good, I almost prefer to leave out the miso and use chicken bouillon instead. It's good with some mushrooms thrown in as well!

Reviewed Cream of Wild Mushroom Soup

Nov 29, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

As much as I hate winter, I'm almost glad it's here as it gives me an excuse to make this soup again. I love mushrooms and this is probably the best mushroom soup I've had and definitely the best I've made. Perfect!

Reviewed Bacon Wrapped Scallops with Spicy Mayo

Nov 29, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

Have made these several times but only once for company. They went downright primal on these as expected. The Sriracha mayo is an amazing compliment to these and we have adopted and adapted it to use with other seafood dishes. Awesome!

Reviewed Emeril's Most Kicked-Up Meatloaf Ever

Nov 29, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

This is the king of meatloaf! All others tremble and run, screaming in the opposite direction. I grew up on the plain burger-with-ketchup variety and was unprepared for the wallop of flavor and awesomeness this thing packs. And the next day meatloaf sandwiches? Oh my...

Found this while on a yellow curry kick and boy did this hit the spot! It did make a LOT of dressing so I had extra on the side just in case. Tremendously addictive salad!!

I was surprised to find out how much flavor this salad packs. I didn't enjoy it as much left over. A little extra dressing is a good thing on the side. Delicious!

Reviewed Macaroni Salad with Dill and Ham

Nov 29, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

This has become our main potluck-style salad over the last year. Since we first made it, we're modified it slightly and it's always a hit. First, we eliminated the white wine vinegar altogether. We use 1/4 cup olive oil and only 1/2 teaspoon of the salt. Most importantly, if you're making this ahead of time, double up the dressing and save some...

What an incredible take on lasagna! I could not find the spinach noodles but I did have some fresh baby spinach I was trying to use up so I got the green line in it anyway. I think lasagna is always a lot of work but this is worth it.

These were outstanding!! I'm a sucker for the flavor of a jalapeno and this delivered on all fronts. There's a lot of room to play with the spice level on these too.

Made this to say goodbye to this years basil plants. Absolutely loved it!! The peppers are great on their own but the addition of the basil sauce puts them over the top.

Reviewed Spenser's Grilled Broccoli

Reviewed Spicy Dill Pickles

Nov 29, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

This was my first year pickling stuff and I had to try this. They came out great! You can't get too many of them in a jar so once a jar is open, it's gone fast. I'm almost already out of them so next season I'll do even more.

Nov 28, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

While I'm perfectly fine with Ye Olde Yam Recipe for Turkey Day, we decided to go with this as a change of pace as well as the fact that we were making the stuffed turkey breast to go with it. At first, the sweetness and brightness of it surprised me but I quickly settled in. The topping is amazing with it! Used fresh sweet potatoes and it couldn't...

Reviewed Sausage and Mushroom Stuffed Boneless Turkey Breast

Nov 28, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

As with others, a search for caul fat came up empty even after calling several specialty markets. As far as I can tell, it didn't hurt the recipe. We chose to go with this one for Thanksgiving as we were making a small dinner and this was easily halved. The turkey came out great and the stuffing is fantastic. There were a small amount of leftovers...
