Reviewed Giddy-Up Steak with Onion-Date Compote
"This is a very easy meal to prepare, even for a kitchen novice.
It was good but not mind-blowing. I thought the rub was bland. My husband went nuts over the onion compote but I found it a bit too sweet. It doesn't need the sweetness of the dates. I halved the compote recipe but it took much longer to cook than the recipe directions indicate (almost twice as long).
Having said that, today I made sandwiches with the leftover meat, compote, and a spread of sour cream mixed with cilantro, garlic, horseradish, and lemon juice on toasted bread for lunch and that was fantastic.

"Super easy to make and also super delicious. My husband, a New Delhi native, just about got weepy the first time I served it; said it reminded him of his childhood. A big hit with the in-laws, too.
