Reviewed Crostata with Mushrooms and Pancetta
"This has become one of my "go to" recipes. I follow the directions to make the dough and literally use whatever meats, veggies, fresh herbs and cheeses I have on hand to make the filling. It always turns out beautiful and delicious! I have found that bacon and mushrooms work particularly well. I also add a clove of garlic to the filling.""
Reviewed Slim Six-Layer Dip
"For years I made a layer dip with canned refried beans, cream cheese mixed with packaged taco seasoning and store-bought guacamole. This is has a much fresher taste and I know it has much better calorie and sodium content. The fresh jalapenos really make it!""
Reviewed Mocha Chocolate Icebox Cake
"As soon as I saw Ina make this cake I knew my husband would want it for his birthday. He did and it turned out fantastic! I used chocolate chip cookies from Sam's bakery and they worked great. I only got four layers in my 8 inch pan as some others have said, but what was great was dipping the left-over cookies in the left-over coffee flavored whipped cream! I also used about a 1/4 cup brewed coffee in place of the espresso powder. When I brought left-over cake to my office several days after making it, one of my co-workers said it was the best "cake" he'd ever had!!!"
Reviewed Fettuccini Bolognese
"I enjoyed all the veggies in this pasta. I do think it could be spiced up a bit, maybe with a pinch or two of crushed red pepper flakes. Since I have a four-year-old with an aversion to anything she considers spicy, I did not do this. I did use spaghetti instead of fettuccini and fat-free half and half instead of the milk. All in all this was a tasty and fairly easy meal."
Reviewed BLT: Beef, Leek and Tomato Salad - with Bacon Dressing - an extra "B"!
"This turned out great for me and my husband enjoyed it too! He said that it would be nice in the summer when we don't always want a hot meal and he could grill the steaks. I cut down on the mess by cooking the bacon and then the leeks in my grill pan. Then, I just wiped it out before cooking the steaks. I also made the dressing with my immersion blender in the container that came with it. The dressing did splatter out a bit, but covering the opening with a paper towel fixed that. I also substituted grape tomatoes for the beefsteak."
