The printed recipe omits to mention what is clear in the video: you have to take the pan with the bacon off the fire before you add the pasta and the eggs, or you'll end up with scrambled eggs.

A good recipe would not call for something as vague as "country bread". It would specify that the bread has to have lots of holes to absorb the very thick liquid. I tried this with dense whole grain bread (which qualifies as "country bread") and it didn't work."

Sorry Marcela but as others reviewers mentioned, this dish comes out very fatty. I ate a single tostada and could still feel it in my stomach 18 hours later. Taste was OK, but this is not queso fundido, it's a cheese sauce. They start with milk and flour so the cheese won't separate when it melts (as it does in traditional queso fundido), and it doesn't, but it also comes out bland. The concept is interesting so I'll try it again, but will skip the milk and flour. They also missed a golden opportunity "

"1/2 of a large squash" is not precise. My sauce ended up very thick. The squash also drowns out the mushrooms, and it's also very heavy. Next time I'll do spaetzle and mushrooms without the squash"

Great, and can be made using a 9" loaf pan (mine is glass) if you don't have a souffle dish, except that the ends won't get as much of the "lava" as the center.
