My Activity

Reviewed Instant Chocolate Cake

"When I first saw this recipe, it was reviewed by someone much younger than myself who said it wasn't sweet enough. However, after reading the recipe I thought there was plenty of sugar in it and for me there was. The cake was not as moist as a fresh cake would be, but for a spur of the moment cake it was very good. The chocolate had a nice, rich flavor. I served mine with fresh strawberries on top with a white chocolate sauce (courtesy of the Barefoot Contessa). So where the cake was a little dry, the sauce and strawberries added some moisture. Not bad for a microwave cake though. I would make it again, especially since I have all of the ingredients in my house regularly."

Reviewed Shrimp and Sausage Jambalaya

"This recipe looked delicious on tv and was just as delicious to eat! My picky husband said this looked good and that we should try it. There were a lot of steps involved, chopping, frying off the kielbasa then ham, but layering the flavors was the way to go. As soon as I had the chicken stock in I tasted it and knew it was going to be good. The only thing I did was added just a little more time resting after I added the shrimp. It was so tasty. I will definitely be making this again and again. Thank you Ina and Amelia!"

Reviewed Wayne's Beef Macaroni and Cheese

"I made the mac & cheese last night for dinner. I liked it. It was really like a glorified Hamburger Helper, but fresher. I followed the recipe and thought it had just the right amount of spice, cheese and liquid. I would make this again, but as Paula is on this episode with her sons, I do think this is more of a guy grub than anything. As always, Paula never disappoints! Thanks for another great recipe!

Reviewed Blueberry Tart

"This dessert was awesome. The only change I made was in the blueberry pie filling. Because I just couldn't pour a can of that canned mess on such a masterpiece, I simply made my own blueberry topping. Blueberries, sugar, water in a sauce pan, bring to a boil, add some cornstarch and let thicken. It was delicious!

Reviewed Spaghetti and Meatballs

"Made this meal yesterday. It was awful. I am Italian and have been making homemade meatballs and sauce for years. The sauce was a basic tomato sauce that did not require two $2.99 cans of San Marzano tomatoes. Any brand would have been just fine. There was way too much ground pork in the meatballs. They were so loose and once cooked had a very "porky" texture/taste. I really thought they had potential, but they were not good at all. Definitely not enough seasoning/garlic. I followed the directions to the letter and this meal was just not good. This is not the first Tyler Florence recipe I have tried and did not like. Will definitely stick to Ina and Giada!
