My Activity

Reviewed Hard-Boiled Eggs

"Are these 1 star reviewers stupid or just illiterate? The recipe CLEARLY states to bring to boiling then let SIT in the pan for FIFTEEN minutes, not five. Letting them sit in the pan of water allows them to continue cooking. Mine just out just fine.

Before you trash a recipe why don't you try following the DIRECTIONS? "

Reviewed Coconut Macaroons

"This is the second recipe of Ina's in a week that has let me down. There is WAAAAY too much sweetend condensed milk in this. It doesn't combine with the coconut and it separates and carmelizes on the bottom of the pan making it impossible to get the cookies off the sheet. I put two dozen in the oven, but only managed to salvage 10 cookies. They taste alright, but with the sweetened condensed milk all leeched out onto the pan I think they can taste better. I'll give it one more go, but start with only half of the S.C. milk and see what happens. "

Reviewed Matchstick Potatoes

"I followed these directions to the letter and all I got were soggy, floppy potatoes for my Valentine's dinner. I had to cook them to almost burned to get any crispness on these potatoes.
The only thing I can think I did wrong was I used a potato that was too starchy.
Normally I love Ina's recipes; too bad this one fell flat.

Reviewed Creamy Stove-top Mac and Cheese

"I have been looking everywhere for a FLAVORFUL, simple mac and cheese. because I was skeptical I added 1 cup of gruyere and a teaspoon of dijon mustard. Doesn't need either. As long as you use EXTRA sharp cheddar (DON'T buy the bags-grate it fresh you won't have any problem.
The ONLY complaint I have with this recipe is because of all the cheese and butter it binds when it cools making scooping out a serving for re-heating tough. If you have leftovers, separate them into individual servings then store in the fridge. I added a couple tablespoons of milk and after a little stirring to reincorporate everything it was great reheated!
Thanks Sunny!
