I made the recipe as stated and I thought it was too sweet and mushy. I bought an Italian loaf, cut it in cubes then let it stale in the bowl over night. Maybe it was still too fresh? It was actually better than I expected. I thought the raisins sounds weird but it totally worked. My family also enjoyed it. I used diced tomatoe instead of crushed tomatoes only because I already had them and didn't want to have to go to the store again. I liked the chunky texture of the sauce but the rice in the cabbage rolls on the top level...
