My Activity

Reviewed Italian Wedding Soup

"My new favorite soup! A good rich homemade broth is the key to this recipe. The chicken meatballs were delicious as well. I used fresh 3 cheese tortellini for my pasta and highly recommend it. If you think you'll have extra soup, I would recommend taking out what you will refrigerate or freeze without the pasta. The tortellini held up ok but somet"

Reviewed Simply Delicious Strawberry Cake

"Five stars for simplicity, taste and versatility. I baked my 2 layers for 30 minutes.

A co-worker gave me this recipe saying this was the best strawberry cake she ever had. I wanted to use what I had on hand so I used my last year's frozen wild raspberries, added sugar to them for the puree and I didn't thaw the berries. Just ran them through "

Reviewed Charred Chili Relleno with Green Rice

"Rachael Ray's recipes are either a hit or miss with me. This one was a home run! Both recipes of stuffed peppers and rice were fantastic. I can't wait until the end of summer when my poblano peppers will be ready for harvest!
I will note: prep is the key. The first time I made this I just prepared everything while reading it off a printed page a"

Reviewed Flank Steak with Balsamic BBQ Sauce

"This was a good, change of pace for how I usually use flank steak. I did make some revisions using what I had and after reading other reviews. I used only 2 cps. of balsamic vinegar (all I had), 4 garlic cloves and 3 chilpotle chiles to suit my taste. I think it would of been better if the steak was marinated in these ingredients or atleast part o"

About Me

I enjoy baking and cooking but not as much as I enjoy eating! The aroma, texture and of course taste. I enjoy eating out less and less and much prefer to eat at home.

I get a huge kick to be able to grow and preserve my own food, just learning to home can in 2008.

One of my favorite cookbooks is an older version of Southern Living, but I try quite of bit of new recipes from their magazine and website as well as others. I love regional and church cookbooks...you find some tasty old reicpes not found in commercial cookbooks.

Not sure if I'm "famous" for any particular dish but famous for making it homemade. Whether it's vanilla, bread crumbs, ice cream...it's most likely from scratch. Even made cheese...once. If only I had my own water buffalow, cow or goat!

Favorite Foods

My favorite foods are spicey. Indian, tex-mex, southwest and asian.

As far as favorite restaurant? I really don't have one. I've been to a handful of outstanding places over the years but they are not near my location. If I go out to eat, I prefer to eat dishes that are a bit of a pain to make at home...but usually decide it's worth the effort to do so, next time.
