Excellent pie. I made it with 1 cup of sugar but next time I will use 1/2 cup of sugar. I followed the directions and hand no problems with a runny pie. I did blind bake the pie crust for 10 minutes and allow it to come to room temperature first. I will definitely make this again. Actually, my husband is asking if I can adapt this for peaches. I don't...

I don't think she was saying it was bad. Her first sentence is "great recipe, can't go wrong". I personally appreciate hearing suggestions to make a great recipe even better. And I am going to try it with Captbill's suggestions; they sound good!

So simple but so good! I think the pinch of red pepper flakes and the balsamic vinegar took this to the next level.

These were great.. I want to thank all the reviewers for taking the time to make suggestions to make this even better. I added an extra egg and decided to bake them. Perfect! Will be making again for sure. Can't wait til Paula's digital channel is up and running!

Actually she specifically said NOT to pierce the potatoes on the program. I always pierce them but, hey, this is Ina Garten and she knows her stuff so I didn't pierce them. You guessed it; they exploded in my oven. Never again. :(

Excellent soup. The only suggestion I have for those who thought this was flavorless is to season each layer as you go with a little salt and pepper. Makes a big difference when cooking anything.

Finally a recipe that actually works to get a nice crispy crust. I always did the standard flour, egg, and bread crumbs but it was never very successful. This was great as written but I can definitely see using this as a base for all types of ingredients. Next time I might try it with mushrooms and white wine. Thanks for sharing the recipe."

I followed the recipe as written and it was delicious. It was a nice change but I think I prefer pork cooked to 140 (ala Alton Brown) nice and juicy with a little pink. Good recipe but probably won't make again."
