Reviewed Hotcakes with Delicious Blueberry Compote

"Wow - this is replacing grandma's buttermilk pancakes as our favorite go-to pancake recipe. They are that good! We skipped the compote (which sounded involved) and dropped a few blueberries into the batter once it hit the skillet. Amazing!""

Reviewed Almost-Famous Breadsticks

"These are definitely delicious--airy, yeasty and yummy! Somehow my batch made over 20--yay! I did have some issues getting the yeast to foam, and it never did work out quite right (I used Trader Joe's yeast), but it still rose nicely. I also added parmesan to the garlic powder blend, which increased the awesomeness. I would NOT bake these on parchment paper though--mine stuck quite badly. The batch I did on my silicone sheets came off much more easily. I served it with a knock off on Olive Garden's Zuppa Toscana soup... it was a heavenly meal!

Reviewed Almost-Famous Green Bean Fries

"Wow - these were completely addicting! I did not make the dip (not a personal fan of ranch), but the fries themselves were pretty killer. I used buttermilk instead of milk, and also added paprika to the seasonings. Don't miss the garlic powder (it's listed on the same line as the onion powder), I added a full teaspoon of it since I wasn't sure--but I made a 1 1/2 recipe. And I dumped a bunch of salt in... I think these are probably better salty.

Reviewed Keema (Indian Spiced Ground Veal and Beef with Peas

"I thought this was absolutely delicious. I halved the recipe and used only ground beef. I also added 1/2 C. sweet potato puree and 1/2 C. butternut squash puree (as I've been hiding veggie purees in recipes a la Deceptively Delicious). The additions added a subtle sweetness and creaminess to the dish which I really enjoyed.

About Me

Wife and mother of two little ones--I am definitely the cook in this house. Always on the hunt for mixing up our meals with a little bit more variety at low cost and easy(ish) prep. And I have recently started hiding veggie purees in favorite foods so that my picky kids (husband included!) get a little bit better nutrition.
