Reviewed Hot Honeyed Spare Ribs

Mar 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I have used this sauce on spare ribs, shredded chicken for sandwiches and bone-in ribs. Brushing the bone-in ribs while on the bbq is outstanding. THe sauce will carmelize and get the edges crispy. I love the sweetness of the honey. Easy and fast recipe."

Reviewed Apple and Oatmeal Crisp

Mar 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

THis recipe is real good. THe topping is too dry, so I'll add more butter to the crumb mixture next time. I used granny smith apples. I like my crumb topping crispy. When it came out of the oven the crumb topping looked the same as when I put it in. More butter needed i think."

Reviewed Chicken Stew with Biscuits

Mar 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I made this for a football party. I doubled the recipe and put it in my electric roaster. I made it the day before, so I wasn't cooking during the party. Instead of putting the biscuits directly in the stew, I had them on the side and guests laddled the stew over the biscuit. Everyone went home with a full and happy tummy."

Reviewed Corn and Potato Chowder

Mar 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Any recipe that has "chowder" in the title gets me excited to try it. This was no exception. Wow! I have made this without the 1/2 and 1/2 and it was still real good."

Reviewed The Lady and Sons Beef Vegetable Soup

Mar 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

THis soup is very good. I used homemade egg noogles instead of elbow macaroni. I also don't like okra so that was omitted. Beef short ribs tend to be very fatty. Using a boneless chuck roast is easier to handle and has more meat. Paul is such a great cook!"

Reviewed White Bean Chili

Mar 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

No variations with this one. It is perfectly delicious!"

Reviewed Fettuccine Chicken Salad

Mar 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I followed previous reviews and cut down on the mayo. I used 1 cup mayo w/olive oil and it was a good salad. Two cups would've been way too much, and sometimes regular mayo is just too heavy."

Reviewed Braised Cabbage

Mar 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

THis recipe so dog-gone good I can't stand it! My mom first served this at a dinner party and we ALL had to have the recipe. You must serve the cabbage immediately so I don't think it would be good for pot-luck. "

Reviewed Potato Casserole

Mar 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is a good recipe with a few changes. You can use hashbrowns on top instead of sliced potatoes to save time. I use red bell pepper instead of green for a bigger color. I doubled the bacon amount and stuck some in the middle. I also season it a bit more. Yummy!"

Reviewed Mashed Baked

Mar 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

THis was real good, but don't like to use boxed potatoes. Thought I'd try it anyway for a large group for Easter brunch. Next time I will use my own mashed potatoes."

Reviewed Baked Penne with Roasted Vegetables

Mar 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I have made this dish on several occasions. Most of the time I only roast the veges with the oil, salt, pepper and herbs. I put them on a jelly roll pan and place them on the grill for a great smokey flavor. It's like dessert to me!"

Reviewed Cajun Chicken Alfredo

Mar 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Everytime I make a new recipe, I always date it, make comments, and write suggestions for next time. What I wrote on this recipe was, "Oh My Gosh Good!" I have made this dish using Weber New Orleans Cajun Seasoning for a bigger kick. Another time I didn't have marinated sun dried tomatoes so I used 1 can diced tomatoes. It wasn't as good as the...

Reviewed Asian Chicken and Orzo Salad

Mar 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I like the taste of the hoisin sauce in the dressing. I wouldn't omit this ingredient because that's what makes this salad so delicious. I have made this on several occasions and it's always a hit."

Reviewed Golden Pound Cake

Mar 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Yummy! I have never made pound cake so I was excited to try it for the first time. I baked it in a greased bundt pan. I had trouble getting it out. Maybe I should've floured the pan too? I just sprayed it with non-stick cooking spray. I did eventually get it out of the pan though. It is soooo good with strawberry sauce and whipped cream. My...

Reviewed Beer-Braised Chuck Roast and Onions

Mar 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

THis was a great alternative from packaged onion soup mix to season the meat. I didn't have stout so I just used a can of light beer. I loved all the onions! I had some baby portabella mushrooms I needed to use up so I threw those in there too. I shredded the beef when it became fork tender and put it back in the juice. This was dynamite on sandwich...

Reviewed Rice Pilaf Garden Style

Mar 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is the best rice pilaf I've ever made. I made variations for the sake of color, and some family members don't like mushrooms or strong onion flavor. I use leeks instead of shallots, I used 1 zucchini and 1 yellow zucchini-squash - in place of the mushrooms I used shredded carrots. I couldn't find Basmati rice so I used a long grain from the...
