Reviewed Whiskey Glazed Flat Iron Steaks and Grilled Potatoes
"Excellent recipe. I used this as a base but added a bit more brown sugar and cut the garlic to 3 cloves; marinated the steak about 45 minutes. Since it is February in Chicago, it was cooked inside on a grill pan on the stove, and brushed with the glaze several times. Boiled down the sauce, removed the garlic as instructed. "I made this using regular lemons and also adding a little fresh chives to the butter. AMAZING! The flavor was wonderfully full and complex. The salmon was moist and delicious... just perfect. I will be making this again and again and again and..... you get the idea."
About Me
I learned to cook and bake as a child from my mother who could make fabulous meals from almost nothing. She was a wonderful cook as well as an excellent baker. I still cook a full dinner just about every night. My children grew up with home cooked meals; fast food was a rare "treat". They developed healthy eating habits and can cook for themselves quite well. It seems to be a rare talent in these modern and busy times.
I wish more folks would learn to cook and stop relying on fast food or boxed and packaged meals from the store. Our population would be much healthier if they would go back to basics and cook for themselves, from scratch!
Favorite Foods
My favorites are old fashioned comfort foods; meatloaf, beef stew, pot roast, and an old European recipe: plum dumplings. I am especially fond of a Croatian specialty called, Potica. It is a yeast dough with a walnut and honey filling; very rich and delicious. I make it every Christmas.
