Can you make a day ahead and refrigerate and serve the next day?

I plan on having a party in the mid-afternoon, and I want to do as much ahead of time as I can. This recipe sounds great, but it may take more time to prepare than I will have that day, so I'd like to make it the day before. Has anyone done that?

This was pretty bad -- very tasteless and bland. And, the potatoes and vegetables did not cook in the time described. It was a very unsatisfying waste of calories!
