Reviewed Hoecakes

Dec 2, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This is a great, simple hoecake recipe. As it should be! I had all these ingredients on hand as I use the same things to make my cornbread stuffing. I'm so glad I was able to use ingredients that I don't normally use at other times of the year. Super easy to cook and easy to eat. Yum!"

Reviewed Cajun Jambalaya

Oct 11, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I've made this jambalaya multiple times and it's very good. I've seen a few comments about the salt in the Creole Seasoning/Bayou Blast being too much. Folks, you aren't supposed to use the entire amount. Third item down the ingredients list is "1 Tablespoon of Creole seasoning, recipe follows." So no, you don't use all that you make. And if "

Reviewed Roasted Sweet Potatoes and Wilted Spinach

Mar 27, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This recipe was great! I hate to say it but I did make some adjustments. I only used 1 sweet potato and instead of quartered, I diced it. Also, I used maybe a handful of baby spinach. The only issue I ran into was that a good bit of my red onion burned. I'm assuming its because of how finely I chopped them. Next time I think I may wait and ...

Reviewed Lowcountry Smothered Pork Chops

Super easy and has become my Monday night dinner! I didn't feel the need to thicken my sauce but can see how others would want to. I serve it with a mashed potato recipe I got from divascancook(dot)com. I also only use one onion instead of two for my cast iron skillet gets pretty filled up. We don't even taste the flour and all it seems to do...

Reviewed Parmesan Herbed Orzo

Aug 31, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I can't say that I ever had Orzo until this recipe. I think its a great, light side dish. I've paired it with chicken and pork chops. Like other reviewers, I add more salt, pepper and parmesan. I think the onion gives it a nice crunch so I don't sautee them prior. Very easy and inexpensive recipe.""

Reviewed Roasted Broccoli and Feta Salad

Jul 6, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Super easy salad to make. I had a tad bit of trouble finding arugula in my grocery store. But I did manage to find a bag of baby arugula on my second trip to a different location. I love roasting vegetables like squash and zucchini and had never thought to do tomatoes or broccoli. Great way to expand my veggie intake! "

Reviewed Strawberry-Cream Cheese Stuffed French Toast

May 19, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This recipe was great! Though I had to put a spin on it. I realized at the last minute that I didn't have any eggs to make french toast so I ended up making pancakes. I sliced up strawberries and pressed them into the pancake batter, then spread cream cheese in between. Fantastic! Another great recipe from Paula!"
