Reviewed Scrambled Eggs over Asparagus

May 24, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Yummy, and salt and pepper don't count. Pay attention, Houston ;-)"

Reviewed Pita Stuffed with Tabbouleh and Shards of Feta

Mar 29, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is wonderful. Have made it more than once. For those who insist that this is not "authentic" tabbouleh - nowhere does she say it is. Get over yourself and enjoy the wonderful food!!!"

Very yummy. And before criticisms try reading the recipe. Says to serve warm or chill. So chill with the reviews."

Reviewed Weeknight Buttermilk Fried Chicken

Feb 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Interesting take on fried chicken. And can be oven baked if desired. Loved it. A take on a southern favorite. Thanks!"

Reviewed Homemade Butter

Feb 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I grew up on a farm and had forgotten how much better homemade butter is to store bought. Of course, we didn't have the mixer, just a churn. Or the little kids would roll the mason jar between them until it was butter. Thanks, Alex, for the tasty reminder."

Reviewed Coconut Orange Cashew Rice

Feb 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I thought this was tasty and different. I find it a little strange that the previous review would give it such a low rating just because she was having difficulties with cooking the rice! It took mine longer than 20 minutes but it was wonderful. You did cover it I hope."

Reviewed Double Fudge Bread Pudding with Chocolate Whipped Topping

Jan 31, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

How on earth could this NOT be sweet enough. It has almost 2 cups of sugar in it for Pete's sake plus semi sweet chocolate plus bourbon. It is so sweet it almost made my teeth hurt. That's how good it was!!! Are you sure you followed the recipe?

Reviewed Roasted Eggplant Caponata

Jan 17, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I am so very tired of socalled purists who insist that a food cannot be called authentic unless it follows the time honored traditional recipe. No where does it say "authentic" on this recipe. BTW I don't like eggplant so substituted portebella mushrooms and zucchini and it was fabulous! Guess that really makes me not authentic!

Reviewed Papa Bear Oatmeal

Jan 7, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I made this the last time it was on Food Network and loved it. We went to Ireland last fall and it is made pretty much the same way except they don't use water to make the oatmeal they use milk. Then added all the goodies. Was informed this is traditional Irish oatmeal or porridge. Loved it and use that method with this recipe now. Wonderful!

Reviewed German Style Oven Fries

Dec 14, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Wonderful! Had them with Wurst Sliders - a real hit! This is supposed to be German influence, pumpkin, and not butchering your German food. American food is made up of many influences and we love them all!

Reviewed The Wurst Reuben Burgers

Dec 14, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

These make great sliders! Used her suggestion for that and had a wonderful time. Be sure to really drain the kraut. Loved them with the fries. As for the comment on the fries about the German influence. That's what this is - an influence to style. Please don't rate a recipe for its title!

Reviewed Blood Mary with a Kick

Dec 8, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Y'all missed the comment about it also being a "virgin" Bloody Mary. Add vodka to taste. It is yummy either way!

Reviewed New York Strip Steaks

Dec 7, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I disagree - steak and lemon go together beautifully. But then those of us in the south often use lemon. Don't imagine you can get it up north - or at least where it is any good. But then if you used bottled lemon - ewwww!! No wonder it tasted bad! As for the butter, come on people, use your common sense. If you love butter use it, if not don't....

Reviewed Turtle Graham Bars

Dec 5, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Have always loved these with many variations including saltines instead of grahams! In fact it is so good we called it Christmas Crack! The naysayers are a little silly.

Reviewed Gina's Crusty Cornbread

Nov 12, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

A lot of sugar is NOT southern cornbread - it is Johnny Cake and a yankee treat. Gina's is authentic southern cornbread - in fact a lot of southern cooks leave out the sugar altogether!

Grandkids loved doing this the first time and even asked for more and one of them is a teen! Gimme a break with the criticisms! But then look where they came from - yall need to give it a rest.
