Reviewed Charred Green Beans

As with other reviewers, I thought this was best without the added ingredients at the end. I'm not a tarragon fan, so I left that out. Also, did not have any of the suggested mustard, so I just sprinkled some mustard powder on the beans before baking - decided the flavor wasn't necessary when we ate them. Did get my zester out and sprinkle some fr"

Reviewed Crispy Kale "Chips"

Delicious. The most vegetables I have ever seen my husband eat in one sitting. Important things: 1)don't overcrowd the pan or it will steam them - they won't get crispy. 2)remember, they shrink a LOT 3)salty VERY lightly. It only took me about 10-15 min to bake them but i tore the kale into pretty small pieces."

Reviewed Chili Sweet Potato Hash with Fried Eggs and Fresh Tomato Salsa B, L or D meal: good for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner

Oct 3, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

If you are having this for breakfast, don't feel you have to make the salsa. However, if you are making this for a dinner, I highly recommend the salsa... it adds another dimension that you need for a full meal. I used half of the spices (rachel ray's recipes are usually to spicy for me - and i'm pregnant so i wanted to help the heartburn), but i...

Reviewed Sweet Potato and Beet Chips with Garlic Rosemary Salt

Sep 1, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Loved the chips. So did my husband who does not care for sweet potatoes and does not like beets at all. The only problem I had was that after reading other reviews, I pulled the chips out a little early so they wouldn't overcook, but they ended up being undercooked. Next time I will leave them in until they are light brown all over instead of jus...

Reviewed Caesar Salad with Pancetta

Delicious caeser salad recipe! Only way I can get my husband to eat his vegetables:) Only changes I would suggest is a little less lemon, and definitely DONT leave out the anchovies! I've tried it both ways and withouth the anchovies, it tastes more like a creamy lemon dressing. Last time I made this, I made more dressing then I needed with the p...

Reviewed Senate Bean Soup

Delicious bean soup. Even my picky sister loved it! Very comforting soup. I did make a few additions - added some chopped carrot and celery, a few bay leaves, and some chicken stock for added flavor. Keep an eye on the soup, as I had to add additional water/broth multiple times. Because the saltiness of the soup will vary depending on the amount/...

Reviewed Carrots and Rutabaga Mash

Jan 21, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was our first time trying rutabaga... for the simplicity of the dish, I thought it was very good. My only problem was that I waited until the rutabagas were soft enough to pierce with a fork, and then I mashed them. We decided I didn't wait long enough for the rutabagas to cook, so the end result was chunky instead of "creamy" like mashed potatoes....
