"This recipe is great! Don't add salt; the chicken stock gives enough salt as-is (in fact, too much, so use low-sodium broth). The key is the red pepper flakes, which balance the sweetness of the carmelized onions. You can also substitute traditional spices like cinnamon & nutmeg.

"WOW!! This pumpkin dish is FANTASTIC! Make it before October & November go away! I used cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves as the spices instead of the listed spice mix. Don't add salt; the chicken stock gives enough salt as-is (in fact, too much, so use low-sodium broth). The key is the red pepper flakes, which balance the sweetness of the carmelized onions, and in my case, the spices I chose. It was the higlight of the meal I made. Paired it with a MacMurry Ranch Pinot Noir, and mmm... tastes like the essense of fall.
