Reviewed Chicken and Broccolini Stir-Fry

Sep 9, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I made a few changes to this: mushrooms instead of bell peppers, fish sauce instead of oyster sauce. It was salty so I just added extra veg to stretch the sauce out more. Very good!"

Reviewed Bucatini With Olive-Caper Sauce

Jul 11, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I think it's a bit unfair to give it a four because your kid doesn't like olives. Nobody advertised this as being a kids' recipe. Anyway, this is super easy and packs a decent amount of flavor. After adding in the pasta, I heated the entire thing on low. Otherwise, it's room temperature. Definitely use fresh tomatoes!"

Reviewed Patriotic Berry Trifle

Jul 4, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Fantastic tasting and easy! It is a bit pricey; it cost me $20 to make. I only needed one pint of strawberries and there was extra cream leftover. I will DEFINITELY make this again. I think I will try it with bananas and pineapple and brush the cake with coconut rum to make a pina colada trifle :)"

Jul 3, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

An absolute waste of supplies. I followed the directions exactly and the whey moderately separated but, for all of the milk I used, there was barely anything. I won't try this one again."

So good and SO EASY. Absolutely perfect for a weeknight dinner!"

Reviewed Hummus For Real

Mar 10, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I made this with canned chickpeas and it was VERY good. I definitely had to add the tahini, salt, lemon and garlic as I went tasting because the initial by the book taste was bland."

Reviewed Buffalo Chicken Dip

Mar 2, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was good but definitely too dry. Next time, I will add mayo and onions."

Reviewed Good Eats Meatloaf

Dec 2, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Healthy changes I made: used egg replacement product and turkey meat. It turned out great! Perfect balance of flavors. It was easy to make; great weeknight dinner and I put it all together the day before so I could just pop it in the oven. "

Reviewed Pumpkin Pie

Dec 1, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I made this with canned pumpkin and the filling came out perfectly. I'm a big fan of gingersnaps, but I honestly didn't like the crust. It was very soggy and the flavor took away from the pumpkin. Next time, I will make the filling with a regular crust. This pie tasted good the day after and phenomenal 3 days after so I would suggest making this "

Reviewed Pumpkin Roll Cake

Oct 9, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I made this directly as written. The pumpkin flavor was very weak and not enough pumpkin and spice flavor. The cream, too, was very bland. The cake had a spongy texture due to the gelatin. I won't be making this again."

Reviewed Chicken Georgia

Sep 23, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is very basic and needs doctoring, for sure. If not, all you have is sauted mushroom flavor. I added garlic and next time I will add white wine to the shallots and mushrooms. I will also choose a stronger cheese because mozzarella gets completely overpowered by mushrooms."

Reviewed Pumpkin Oatmeal

Sep 22, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I made it exactly as directed but skipped the pepitas. I found it pretty tasteless until I doctored it up with agave maple syrup, extra pumpkin spice and extra cinnamon and cloves. VERY filling and a soupy texture. It was delicious but, since I had to do so much doctoring, I gave it 3 stars."

Reviewed Thai Chicken Soup

Aug 27, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I added extra green curry and fish sauce. I also cut the broth down to 4 cups as I thought it would be too watery/chicken brothy with 6. Flavor is very good but it is a base and needs added fish sauce and spice."

Perfect! Easy and tastes like restaurant shrimp scampi. A keeper!"

Reviewed Pastitsio

Aug 25, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe is excellent! I made a few changes: I cut the pasta and bechamel by half, used whole wheat penne and ground organic hamburger. I'm not sure why others said this was time consuming; it took me 30 minutes to put it together. I am a multitasker so I was making the meat, bechamel and pasta simultaneously ( not very difficult). If you cut t"

Jul 12, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

What a NIGHTMARE. I followed the directions exactly and I ended up with a raw, bubbling over mess once I put it in with the strawberries and added crust. I just threw the whole thing out."

These brownies are phenomenal. They are rich and fudgy! You won't taste the coffee; it just adds flavor depth. I use this as my base brownie recipe always and then add in fillings and frostings. Also, I cook mine in a 9x9 brownie pan and they come out fine."

Use this as a BASE recipe only. Thai food is definitely best when made by your own palette, so I used the amount of chicken, coconut milk, peanut butter, lime juice as the recipe states. I then added fresh garlic ( 4 small cloves), sriracha for heat, salt, fish sauce and then added the brown sugar in small amounts until the sweet leveled out the s"
