This is one of my favorite broth soups, and I've made many.

Reviewed corn and crab bisque

Apr 7, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

It's a very yummy, yet easy to make bisque. To save money, I used canned crab meat instead of fresh and it turned out great. And I didn't have any liquid crab boil, so I used a few dashes of hot sauce to compensate. Some asked how much Essence to use. It's a matter of taste. I used probably two tablespoons of it. I added some, tasted the broth, and...

Reviewed Alden's Grandmother's Cornbread Recipe : Emeril Lagasse : Food Network

Apr 2, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Now this is cornbread! If you want a sweet muffin that's diluted with white flour, this is not your recipe. But if you want a rich, hearty cornbread, this is the one. Great with stews and chili. Sometimes I throw in some canned jalapenos for a bit of a zip.

Reviewed ancho-chipotle turkey chili

Apr 1, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

With a few tweaks, it was the best turkey chili I've eaten. The main tweak was that I added a can of kidney beans and a can of black beans. I also ended up using a little extra broth, as the liquid evaporated while simmering. I also used more spices than the recipe called for, since I added beans. The end product was fabulous. It's definitely great...

Reviewed Calf's Liver with Bacon, Caramelized Onions and Sherry

I'm not a huge turnip fan, so this recipe was a nice surprise. I'll definitely make it again.

Reviewed Turkey Chili

Jun 20, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

My suggestions are to omit the sugar altogether and add a cup of canned or frozen corn for a bit of sweetness, double the spices (using fresh herbs, if you have them on hand), add an extra can of drained and rinsed kidney beans, and add up to a small can of green chilies. I never liked cane sugar in spicy foods. If they need a hint of sweetness, u"

I've tried a lot of chili recipes and this is one of my favorites. A somewhat complex flavor, but not too complex. Different, but still familiar chili. I highly recommend this recipe."

Reviewed Baked Beans

Nov 24, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Finally a baked bean recipe that isn't an embellishment on store-bought baked beans or pork n beans, or a recipe where ketchup isn't the main flavor component! These beans are good. Very good. I didn't have Ed's Bbq sauce, so I used a Jim Beam variety. For the beer, I used Guiness. Perfect. I also added a little sauteed jalapeno for a bit of a kic"

Reviewed Indian Rice Pudding

Mar 30, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Delicious, nutritious and easy to make. I think next time I'll use 1% milk and half n half, because I like lighter desserts, but as is, this pudding puts plain ole puddings to shame.""

Reviewed Alden's Grandmother's Cornbread-Kicked Up

Mar 26, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This IS cornbread. It's not that supersweet, white flour stuff that most Americans now identify with cornbread and corn muffins. If you don't want the "kick," leave out the peppers, and enjoy simple, delicious cornbread that will leave you wondering why you ever made the sweet, white flour stuff.""
