Reviewed Old-Fashioned Cupcakes
"I have made a pretty similar cake using this method. When you do the batter, your butter has to be room temperature or it will not work, you will end up with butter chunks instead of it combining as one with the batter. You can look for the book The Cake Bible by Rose Levy Beranbaum. This book was written in 1988 and she used this method. This isn't new. But you will be surprised at this difference in your cupcake, along with using cake flour.
Reviewed Bacon and Green Chile Cornbread
"Made this the other day to compliment my homemade chili. I had everything except the bacon. I live in the south so I added more grilled onions and garlic of course. I thought it was a different approach to cornbread. It wasn't the same consistency that we are used to eating here in Louisiana. I liked it pretty good, but everyone else in the family didn't. They didn't like the texture, they like the traditional texture of cornbread. I would make this again but will have to do a smaller portion since I will be the only one eating it. I think also adding some cheddar cheese and some chopped jalapenos would be great, I love flavor.
Reviewed Cheddar Beer Soup
"Made this soup tonight. It was pretty good. I used Newcastle Brown Ale beer. I added extra cheese, grilled onions and garlic. I didn't have the infused garlic oil so I adapted. I also added some Tony Chachere's. It seems that shredded cheddar doesn't melt that well. So, it was not as smooth as I would like it. I have made homemade cheese soup before and it was great but like the others say, it was okay. I live in Louisiana so we love flavor in our cooking, so it's hard for me to only cook with 5 ingredients. I love watching the show and I think she is a great host to watch.
