Reviewed Garam Masala-Chocolate Gingerbread

"The base cookie is nothing exceptional - an average ginger bread taste though it is better than most. The taste of ginger overpowers the taste of garam masala ( I cook with it four times a week so i would know the taste). However the chocolate icing makes it better. my variation is: I made the chocolate topping with white chocolate chips as per the recipe and replace 1 tsp of water with 1 tsp of lime juice and added 1 tsp lime zest (Lime and ginger go well together.
a. top the cookie with the white chocolate topping.
b. top the cookie with the white chocolate topping and candied fennel seeds (you can get them @ indian store - called mukhwas sauf - it is colorful like sprinkles so adds a festive touch.
c. some cayenne pepper topping and then topped the cookie (1/2 tsp for 1/2 batch
d. cayenne pepper topping with the candied fennel.... this was the winner.
If anyone tries the variations I would love to know your opinions.
With the topping I am now upgrading it to a four star

Reviewed Garam Masala-Chocolate Gingerbread

"This recipe is similar to Aaron Sanchez cinnamon spice cookie - that went well at my house so i think this will too. Garam masala is a mixture of dry spices such as cinnamon, cloves, coriander, cumin, black pepper, star anise etc... if you cannot find it, just mix in equal amounts of cinnamon and cloves and then double that amount of an equal mixture of coriander and cumin powder and it will come close.
1.5 tsp garam masala in three cups of flour is not a lot to add so you should do fine with substitution. Good luck.
