Reviewed Tortellini With Pumpkin Alfredo Sauce

Aug 15, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Delicious! I'm not a huge pumpkin fan, but this was very good! It takes a lot of salt and pepper to make it savory enough, but if you do it correctly it's great! A fall favorite in my home!"

Reviewed Jalapeno Bites

Aug 6, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

In case anyone is curious, I did the math and these are about 86 calories per bite :)
That's with standard full fat Philly cream cheese, Parm from the green can in the grocery store, and unseasoned bread crumbs from the store. "

Reviewed Chocolate-Hazelnut Macaroons

Jul 17, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Pretty difficult and time consuming, but when you decide to make macaroons that's kind of to be expected. I used pecans instead of hazelnuts. I didn't quite grind them enough, there were still some in tact nuts. But I think that added good crunch. They are really sweet, but once again, expected.
I added orange food coloring to the macaroons...

Reviewed Double Chocolate Chip Cookies With Chocolate Chunks

Jul 13, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Amazing! Perfectly crisp on the edges but ooey gooey in the middle. Great for packing and taking to a picnic or church. I did not chill the dough for half an hour because ain't nobody got time for that. ;) They were still perfect, and spread out just enough to be suitable and not enough that they all blurred together into one big cookie. Overall a"

Reviewed Roasted Shrimp with Feta

Jul 8, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Amazing! I'm not a lemon eater or a tomato eater, but I loved them both in this dish! The feta gets soft and the tomatos cook down and the fennel gets sweet. Every bite is a little different. Also: I wasn't sure if this would be a complete meal or if I would need some type of rice or veggie. It was complete without anything, my family of 3 got ver"

Reviewed Spicy Shrimp Orecchiette

Jul 8, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Very good! A little spicy for me, but I'm a wimp. I also couldn't find orecchiette in my southern Akansas grocery store, so I used mini shells; worked just fine. "

Reviewed Ice Cream Sundae Pizza

Jun 27, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

My whole life I felt that something was missing. It was this pizza. The best dessert I have ever had! SO GOOD!"

Reviewed Capellini with Tomatoes and Basil

Jun 23, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Yummy and easy! I served it as a side to chicken breast, and at one point my sister says, "The pasta kicks the chicken's butt." We both plan on making this dish again."

Reviewed Chocolate Volcano Cake

May 27, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Wonderfully moist and super rich! Maybe serve it with berries or something acidic to counter the super wonderful chocolate! (I served it with ice cream, which was great but didn't counter the richness well) I will point out that the cream cheese mixture was lost flavorwise, but is likely the reason it was so moist. You could totally get away with "

Reviewed Pastitsio

May 20, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

AMAZING. Used Italian sausage instead of the beef and lamb. Prefer it too the Food Network Kitchen's version. Can also use canned tomato sauce if you want to cheat a little.
I did think it was a lot of work, but in the end it was worth it, and fed my parents and I for two nights and one lunch."

Reviewed Penne with Spinach Sauce

May 20, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Good, and hearty with the whole wheat penne. However, I did also find it bland. Not too garlicy or cheesy, just bland. Maybe use more salt, red pepper flakes, mint, etc. Will make again with some flavor booster. "

Reviewed Fettuccini Alfredo with Zucchini Ribbons

May 20, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Yummy, and not too much work. The garlic on the zucchini really made the dish. I was worried that skim evaporated milk would be awful, but you don't notice it in the sauce. "

Reviewed Simply Delicious Strawberry Cake

May 20, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Made this for my Church cake bake off, and won 1st place! I, a 15 year old, beat out a ton of little old southern Episcopalians. Don't worry about an artificial taste; nobody detected Jello in my cake. "

Reviewed Banana Pudding

May 20, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Absolutly use whole milk on this. I cheated and used 1% with a little heavy cream, thinking it would balance out, and I ended up with soup. However, the soup is very yummy! I served it as a sauce with bananas and angel food cake. But still, not my intention. "
