I Live in Las Vegas Nevada and work as an aircfraft mechanic. I really enjoy cooking and experimenting on the relatives. The "Joy of Cooking" has never let me down. I guess it's my favorite and most reliable of the thirty or so cookbooks in my library. I would say that magazine recipes are my biggest pet peeve as they are poorly writen and look nothing like the picture. LOL
