I've seen almost this exact recipe in other sources, including a culinary school textbook. Some of the cupcakes in cupcake wars even use nearly identical recipes. I doubt Ina Garten invented it, I think she changed a few things. I mean why does it use extra-large eggs and kosher salt? If she did, congrats to her as this is a superb recipe. Th"

Good cupcake recipe. The mixing method for the cake is a little odd, though. Normally you would sift the dry ingredients together, and add them alternating with the liquid. Adding the hot water and cocoa powder at the end (like all of these chocolate cake recipes that add hot coffee at the end) is unusual for one using creamed butter and sugar."

They say to mix well on 2nd speed. Is that on a 10-speed KitchenAid, or a 3-speed commercial mixer? I did 3rd on a KitchenAid"

Look! It's a half of Ina Garten's "Beatty's Chocolate Cake" recipe, but milk instead of buttermilk, and hot water instead of coffee. Personally, I'll go with the recipe with buttermilk and coffee. I've seen this classic devil's food recipe all over the place now. In fact, there's another chocolate/marshmallow/ganache cupcake using almost the id"

Hey look, it's Ina Garten's "Beatty's Chocolate Cake" recipe, but with slightly different baking soda/ baking powder ratios, half and half instead of buttermilk, and boiling water instead of coffee. I would recommend you do Ina's recipe instead of this one. The trick to not having them fall is to bake them a little longer than a cake. They'll pa"
