Reviewed Chocolate-Dippy Doughnuts

Mar 12, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

After reading previous reviews, I decided to skip the homemade frosting and just buy a jar of frosting from the store. I also used Canola Oil, once I saw that Peanut Oil was $15! Following Paula's directions, I made 8 dounuts. They were delicious. I don't see myself buying donuts from a bakery again. They were fun to make and even more fun to...

Reviewed 40 Cloves and a Chicken

Feb 14, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

My two-year old daughter loved this chicken. For the past year, we really have to force her to eat meat of any type, but she was asking for more of this all on her own. My husband and I thought it was pretty good, and probably something you would find in a restaurant. I'll make it again, but next time I'll be buying the pre-peeled garlic cloves.

Reviewed Potato Soup with Shrimp

Feb 14, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I made the soup completely without the shrimp. It is a good soup, hearty and creamy. I did add an extra boullion cube, and extra salt and pepper for a little more flavor, but that is just my preference. I'd recommend that others try it.

Reviewed Fastest-Ever Enchiladas

Feb 8, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

My husband said that these were the best homemade enchiladas he's ever had. I am not a fan of Mexican food, but I did enjoy these. Not only were they good, but they were very easy to make. I'll admit, though, that I did use our favorite jarred salsa (La Victoria - Mild) instead of making the salsa. Great taste, super easy. Would recommend to...

Reviewed Fresh Fettuccine with Roasted Chicken and Broccoli Rabe

Feb 7, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

My family and I really liked it, but I made a few changes. I read previous reviews that said the lemon taste was overwhelming, and others that said it was bland. So, I only used the juice of half a lemon, instead of 1/4 cup of lemon juice. I also added about a teaspoon of red pepper flakes, which was perfect, because the dish wasn't too hot, but...

Reviewed Dark Chocolate as a Snack

Feb 2, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Did anyone else find the numerous steps difficult intructions for this recipe too hard to follow? I guess I'll never know how great dark chocolate is as a snack. :(

Reviewed Breakfast Cookies

Jan 27, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

These are seriously so good! I made two batches and used two different kinds of baby food. In the first batch, I used the carrots. In the second batch, I used peaches. I can't say that the taste differs too significantly. One tip, the shape that your cookie is in when you put it in the oven is the shape it will be when it is done baking. So,...

Reviewed Creamy Orzo

Jan 26, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This orzo was very good. I read some of the reviews, and decided to use Fire Roasted Tomatoes, instead of plain. I agree, this was a great change. Other than that, I followed the recipe. I did not wind up needing to use any of the pasta water to make the dish creamy. For me, it was creamy enough. I would NOT consider this to be a main dish....

Reviewed Chocolate Pecan Cobbler

Jan 25, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

After reading the previous reviews, I decided to add a little more cocoa powder and milk than the recipe called for. I added an extra tablespoon of cocoa powder to the bottom layer, and an extra half a tablespoon to the top layer. I probably put an extra 2 tablespoons of milk as well. This was really, very good. It only cooked for the 40 minutes....

Reviewed Peanut Butter Parfaits

Jan 24, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This was very easy to make, and was delicious. I did make a few adjustments though. Instead of Nutter Butter cookies, I used Nilla Wafers. My husband also doesn't like cream cheese, so I left that out entirely. I will always use these adjustments, it was fantastic!

Reviewed Pasta with Tomato and Peas

Jan 23, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

My husband and I really did not like this recipe. It was easy and quick to make, but it had a flavor mix that just didn't go. The shallots, garlic, herbs, and tomato went fine together, as one might imagine, but the peas and carrots were not good for the mix. They seemed to be thrown in, just so there were some vegetables. I typically like Giada's...
