Reviewed Ham and Vegetable Gratin

Mar 24, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was very good - loved the toasted panko crumbs on the top,so much so that the next time I make it, I'll toast a few more. It was easy to make. For me, the thyme wasn't overpowering, but that's such a personal taste. "

Reviewed Monday-Night Red Beans and Rice

Feb 17, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Very easy to make -- definitely a week night recipe! I liked the flavors a lot -used brown rice as it is healthier. I will be making this again. "

Reviewed Stewed Chicken and Chickpeas

Jan 20, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

It was easy to make and would make an easy weeknight dinner. However, there was nothing spectacular about it. ... maybe I should have used more garam marsala to give it more flavor. "

Reviewed Veggie Mini Burger Pita with Cucumber Yogurt Sauce

Oct 10, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I love these! I've been eating them plain - no sauce or anything and they are so delicious! The lemon juice really brings out the flavor in these. I'm going to be making these over and over again. ..I plan on making a batch and freezing them. I'm sure they'll be just as good."

Reviewed Apple Coffee Cake with Crumble Topping and Brown Sugar Glaze

Sep 9, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Have made this twice to rave reviews! As many other reviewers, I omitted the glaze - it seemed a little excessive. No one noticed the difference. It's easy to make and is super moist. Everyone wanted seconds!"

Reviewed Falafel

May 20, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Like many of the previous reviewers, I'd never had falafel before either. It was an easy recipe to make - I really liked the flavors very much. I could have eaten all of them in one sitting, but held back!! This recipe is a keeper!"

Reviewed Lentil Soup With Peas and Ham

Apr 22, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This soup looked just as good as the magazine picture! The dill was a little strong, but then again that might just be my own personal preference. There was a nice blend of flavors and I'm looking forward to seeing how it mellows over night for leftovers."

Reviewed Spicy Turkey Lettuce Cups

Apr 15, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Not really impressed with this one at all. I didn't find them spicy at all - not sure why the ginger didn't come through. Was easy to make and didn't take a lot of time.. nor did I have to use half my cooking utensils to make it (always a plus! - get tired of cooking things that seem to require every pan and bowl in the kitchen be used!!) "

Reviewed Spanish Chicken and Potato Roast

Feb 12, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Thanks to the other reviewers for noting the longer cook time for the chicken - I cooked the chicken 20 minutes and it was perfect. I used too large a baking sheet and had burned stuff in the corners and edges. So, next time, I'd be more choosy about the size of the pan. ... Over all, it was pretty good. The roasted onions were yummy - the ch...

Reviewed Spicy Vegetarian Chili

Jan 8, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is really good!! Can't wait to see if the flavor develops even further when I have it for leftovers this week. I used thawed out cauliflower instead of the fresh - gave it a rough chop - worked very well. This one is a keeper for cold winter night dinners. ""

Reviewed Cranberry Almond Chocolate Bars with Tangerine Zest

Dec 28, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Very good and very easy!! ... as noted by an earlier reviewer, keep an eye on the almonds - 10 to 15 minutes in a 400 degree oven is way too long! I usually toast them in a skillet on the stove - much easier to control. I've used pecans very successfully too. My choice of chocolate was Ghiardelli bittersweet - very good!""

Reviewed Lady Marmalade Chicken Salad

Mar 29, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I made this Sunday night and really didn't like it at all. The yogurt (which I don't really like anyway - my problem, not the recipe's) was very strong. So, I put the remainder in the refrigerator and tried it again on Monday night. Much better - the flavors had time to meld together and the dressing had time to soak into the chicken. If I do...

Reviewed Vegetable Gumbo

Feb 27, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Very nice! Couldn't find black-eyed peas up here in New England so used pinto beans instead. It was very filling and not hard to make at all. Look forward to leftovers tomorrow night. "

Reviewed Mac and Cheese Soup

Overall I liked this. Next time I try it, I'll use about half the amount of shallots - was a little too onion-y for me.

Reviewed Vegetable Frittata

Jan 23, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Made this for lunch today and it is so good! The smoky gouda really adds a wonderful flavor. Will keep this in my to-make-again file. Was easy to make as well.
