My Activity

Reviewed Roasted Beets

"I always rely on Ina's recipes and follow them in detail. This time, however, I only had yellow beets, did not have any raspberry vinegar and no oranges in my pantry: (
I used the yellow beets and substituted balsamic vinegar and juice of 1 lemon with a teaspoon of honey and the beets were delicious.
Ina, you are great. My husband always asks"

Reviewed Vanilla Ice Cream

"So simple and so effective. Thank you again, Ina. I am a vanilla ice cream type of person and because I really like the vanilla flavour, I know a good vanilla ice cream when I taste one - this is a definite winner. It is so easy to make (much easier than many other recipes I tried in the past and, if you have a half decent ice cream maker (I ha"

Reviewed Portobello Mushroom Lasagna

"Another winner! Simple, elegant and oh so good. Made this yesterday and the supposed 6 servings were gone between my husband and I in a dinner and subsequent "brunch" (it does stand the reheating very well). Thanks, Ina.""

Reviewed Fresh Peach Cake

"I said it before and I will say it again: Ina Garten is the best. I made this cake yesterday and had it for breakfast today - it is absolutely delicious. It is moist and fruity, yet the cake part rises quite well and retains it's loft. My husband usually does not eat sweets, but he did have a piece of this one once he ensured that it is one of I""

Reviewed Plum Tart

"If you like Italian plums, you will love this recipe. I just made it to take to work tomorrow and let it cool down a bit before moving it to a plate - as I walked into the kitchen, I noticed that half of it is gone - my usually-not-desert-eating husband having a few crumbs on his lips!! I guess I will have to make it again tomorrow for my co-wor""

Reviewed Chocolate Orange Mousse

"Absolutely fabulous!! I followed the recipe closely, but mixed the butter into the chocolate mixture while still slightly warm. I overwhipped the egg whites and got impatient when folding the egg whites and the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture - it still turned out to be velvety. I have never made a mousse and was not sure it would set ""

Reviewed Peach and Raspberry Crisp

"OK, I said it before and I will say it again: Ina, you are the best!! I tested 3 other recipes from other authors when I baked this gem of a fruity desert. One was a bit too cake-like, one was too runny, one seemed too sweet. This was so delicious - I followed the recipe precisely and, as has always been my experience with all of Ina's recipes""

Reviewed Ribollita

"The most wonderful Ribollita - I love Italian food a have travelled through Italy on food exploration trips - this is the real stuff and better. BTW, my husband loves Ina's recipes so much, he wants me to only keep her cookbooks and give the rest of my cookbook collection to charity : ) Finally, I noticed a few comments about the bread not being needed in this: it serves the purpose of thickening the soup and making it more "hefty". It also mellows the flavours of the vegetables and spices. I followed the recipe exactly and was extremely happy with the results. "

About Me

How sad a world would be without great food!  Food is about passion, passion for life.  I love cooking not only because it is creativity in its essence, but also because it connects us all - not to speak of having a fabulous dish to put in front of your friends and family in the evening. Being of European descend, I grew up with wonderful food all around me.  After moving to North America, I started exploring a new continent (literally) full of surprising, exciting tastes.  Twenty years later, I enjoy the culinary revolution that this continent is experiencing now.  What a ride!
