Hi, my name is Isabel. For as long as I can remember, I have always loved food. I still remember my taste buds tingling in amazement when I first tried sashimi when I was 5. I love cooking, tasting, and studying food – All kinds of it; all the time. So much so, that I have decided to take the steps to turn my passion for food into a second career as a professional chef. (Until recently, I have been a professional software engineer, programming artificial intelligence in the video games industry.) I plan on returning to school in January to pursue a degree in culinary arts. So the purpose of this blog is not only to share my original recipes and showcase my culinary creativity, but also to document my journey through culinary school in the near future.
I have been cooking at home for the last 10 years or so. In recent years, my kitchen efforts has been mainly focusing on producing delectable and nutritious meals for my husband James and myself, and occasionally, for family and friends. Having lived many years in Asia, as well as the southwest, midwest, and even southeast United States, I was fortunate to have been exposed to a variety of flavors, ingredients, and cultures. My style of cooking is fusion cuisine – Contemporary American with influences from Italian, French, and Asian cooking.
I am excited, although uncertain, about what the future would bring. Maybe I will be working in a professional kitchen, or maybe I will launch a catering business. But either way, I am hopeful. So far, so good.
