My temperature knob on my oven wont stick to 425. Is it ok if I set it to 426 or will that burn the potato? Thanks!

Gosh darn it! I forgot to peel the ear and just placed the whole ear in. Are you supposed to separate the kernels or what. The next thing I knew, smoke started coming from my microwave which led me to believe I did something wrong. Did I? The preview picture really captures the texture and implied taste of the popped kernel; I am amazed!
