I had the same result - raw taste and it actually separated in the refrigerator (yes I put the plastic wrap on top as instructed). Also, I whisked it for 2 minutes after cooking. However, I read the recipe carefully and it did NOT say to remove the custard from the flame before whisking so I did not do this!

Do you mean brush simple syrup on the baked crust? or on the raw crust prior to baking?????

I agree and wondered the same - I cooked it more than the time but it never boiled. Maybe flame should have been higher?
