Reviewed Grilled Eggplant Caponata Bruschetta with Ricotta Salata

Sep 7, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Overall, very good. Not sure if there's an error in the recipe or if I'm missing something, but I wasn't too clear on the 1/2-cup canola oil. Also, next time, I think I'll try a bit more onion and raisins, as they added such a nice sweetness and balance, and little less of the vinegar -- I found the acid overwhelmed some of the other flavors. Good, but nothing special. Normally I'm "wow"d by Flay's recipes. Not today. "

Reviewed Tuscan Lemon Chicken

As much as I may like/love so many of the recipes I find from food network, I rarely feel ready to give a full FIVE stars. This was a real winner (and, as much I love food-tv recipes, I hardly ever give 5 stars)! The dressing was spot on (and I can't wait to try it on other things, like maybe fish), and the pine nuts just put it over the edge. "Jumbo flavor," yeah, no kidding. "

Reviewed Lobster and Shells

Jul 5, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I was disappointed. I bought me some quality lobster, sweet, sweet corn, and Ina's dressing was bright and delightful. But put it all together? It ended up being less than the sum of its parts. Why mess around with delicacies like that? Lobster and corn should be eaten in their purest form, and I just felt that putting it all together into "

Reviewed Whole-Wheat Spaghetti with Leeks and Hazelnuts

Nov 20, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

Complex, yet subtle flavors. REALLY a winner pasta dish. I think it's great served alone and/or maybe with just some crusty bread. I agree about the hazelnuts, though. The radicchio and leeks added such delicate, "clean," and lovely texture, I thought the hazelnuts overpowered a bit. Maybe I'll leave them out next time or try the pignolis.
