My Activity

Reviewed Rice Pilaf with Arugula

"I did it with spinach instead of arugula because that's what I had. It was very nice. A perfect complimentary side dish to something bolder. "

Reviewed BBQ Chicken Toes

"The BBQ sauce is awesome! Kids and adults alike were in love. I didn't have our grill out just yet so I half-way cooked the chicken in glass pans in the oven then covered them with sauce for the remaining 25 minutes. Talk about tender and juicy and full of flavor. The only complaint was that there weren't enough!"

Reviewed Coconut MacNut Shrimp with Guava Sweet and Sour Sauce

"Tremendously tasty! I am gluten intolerant so I used sorghum flour instead of regular - no difference as I could tell. I also substituted the frozen guava concentrate (which I couldn't find!!!) for 3/4 jar of Trader Joe's Mango Chutney and WOW was my family happy with that sauce! It will be a family favorite for years to come. "

Reviewed Tilapia with Citrus Bagna Cauda

"This was nothing short of AWESOME!! My family went nuts. We'd be hard pressed to find something better in a restaurant. Only thing I did was double the bagna cauda recipe - we love sauce!!! I served it over basmati rice which soaked up all the extra sauce and honeyed carrots. The roasted asparagus that everyone else has mentioned would have been a better combo.

Reviewed Grilled Chicken with Spinach and Pine Nut Pesto

"This was really quick and easy. I can't afford the pine nuts so I used walnuts instead and it still tasted wonderful. I made 5 chicken breasts instead of two and doubled the pesto recipe - the proportions worked out beautifully. Pile that pesto on high folks!!

About Me

I am a person who has grown to love cooking.  I've always loved eating, mind you, but I've had to work my way into appreciating the art of cooking.  This process is solely due to my dear friend, Whitnee Haston, who is a professional chef as well as a full time wife and mother of two. I don't know how she does it!!! Every time we're together I am completely inspired by her creativity and ability to utilize every ingredient she buys - nothing goes to waste! Her easy teaching methods make my kitchen life do-able. I still don't venture towards the "intermediate" recipes, but that's mostly because I don't have the equipment they ask for. Whitnee has my back on the skills portion of things.
