Reviewed Roasted Tomato Basil Soup

This recipe was simply the best (and I'm not even a huge tomato soup fan). Very time consuming (probably 2 to 2 1/2 hours by the time it was all done) but it was well worth the effort. It went over VERY well in my house which is tougher than it sounds because we have people who both love and hate tomatoes here so the fact that it could satisfy b"

Love this recipe! We omit the ketchup in favor of tomato paste but I'm sure that makes a very small difference to the recipe. "

This was pretty good but I found myself having to alter the recipe a bit so it wasn't too watery in the end. To be fair though, I probably should have used homemade chicken stock but I didn't have it on hand that day and had to use store-bought. "

I swapped the tomato for oven-roasted chicken breast (from some of her other recipes, baked for 35 minutes in a 350 degree oven with a drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper). Very yummy!"

So good! I used the mayo/mustard/parmesan spread very sparingly but it was a really nice touch. "

I'd highly recommend cooking the onions down a lot. I cooked it about 5 minutes past what seemed "soft" (on a side note, I hate subjective directions like that which don't give you even an approximation for how much time to expect to set aside for it) and it wasn't enough. Other than that, very good though. "

Really liked this quite a bit. I thought the tomato/orange mix was going to be really strange but somehow it worked. "

Sep 16, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I was really torn about how to rate this recipe because I didn't make it as directed but rather used the concept as inspiration. I didn't use the pork ragu but just cooked up some sausage and ground beef with my own spaghetti sauce. Love the concept of the lasagna roll-up (and have already made this more than once) but I wasn't excited about the "

I agree that the cooking time is something that needs closer monitoring than is strictly indicated in the recipe, but the flavors are spot on. Definitely worth making again!"

Really solid recipe, though the amount of sauce is pretty excessive. And I'm a person who likes a lot of extra sauce on things as a general rule. "

Love this recipe! Love, love, love it. I don't personally love tomatoes in my guacamole so I usually omit that, and if I have some lime I add a bit of that as well but it's really good any which way. "

Sep 15, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Super yummy. The 14 minutes was pretty spot on. One or two of my cakes came out a teensy bit gooey at the tops but the middles were perfect. It was probably a result of my stalking the oven rather than taking the extra 20-30 seconds to get to the oven from wherever I was in the house, gather oven mitts, etc."

This was my first try at making a molten cake. I thought it was going to be difficult (probably just because the concept seems more difficult than it really is) but it was quite simple.
