Replied to Chili

Nov 2, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

I respect your opinion because YOU ACTUALLY MADE THE CHILI! Why would someone want to "skew" the real ratings with their opinion on whether they would make it or not? Let's leave the ratings for people who have actually tried the recipe!

Reviewed Creamy Tomato Soup

Oct 30, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

Last minute change in dinner plans led me to this recipe so I did not have time to read reviews prior to making. I used a little bacon grease in place of the bacon and cut back on the butter a bit. I used standard diced tomatoes dried parley and thyme. I also added a pinch of dried chili pepper (to mimic our favorite restaurant soup) After blending...

Very good, easily halved, just bake in smaller dish. Only took 30 minutes in the oven. Will save to my recipe file!"

I hate to repeat what so many have said but this is the best recipe! I used center cut bone in chops and let them sit on a cooling rack for 30 minutes or so before cooking. I had to use two pans and cook two batches due to the chop size, but returned the cooked chop to the cooling rack and into a 200 degree oven.

The chop was...

I normally love Melissa's recipes but this one I may not make again. The marinade for the chicken is great though. After looking at how much needed to go into a casserole dish I opted for a 1/2 sheet tray, spreading out the chicken and vegetables. The chicken looked poached after 1 hour so I let it go another 40 minutes (the chicken did not over"

7-15-12 For how easy this it, it's a five! Made these just after the show aired this morning. She used a food processor (which I used and also used just short of 1/2 c water. I did not have shortening, so I used marjarine instead and also used the butter.

I rolled by dough larger than the 7" directed in the recipe, since her...

Reviewed Lemon Tea Cake

Apr 2, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Cake went together very quickly so an easy dessert to make on a weeknight. The cake was light and raised double in the 8 x 8 pan. Not sure if this is the reason but I added the dry ingredients in the wet bowl (without sifting together) then added the lemon juice and it started to fizzle when it hit the baking powder. My co-workers liked the cak...

Reviewed Caesar Salad

Killer croutons! I've been making homemade caesar for years but what intrigued me about this recipe was that it had no eggs. She did preface her recipe on today's show saying caesar dressing is very personal. After I taste tested it I found that I do prefer more garlic and less mustard. Easily remedied by adding more garlic, anchovy and olive ...

Saw recipe on today's airing of "School Today". I will never make banana bread again! This cake was awesome. A must is the orange zest, it really complements the bananas. She said to only put the frosting on top, but there was so much, I scraped some off and then cut the cake layer in half and then frosted the middle. The edges are crumbly, ...

I also started the recipe by sauteeing onions first and then coating the rice with with oil. Then I followed the rest of the recipe. I thought it would be too salty but it was just right. Very good and will be my new way until it gets too hot outside. Tip: Use and oven proof non-stick pot, the parmesean can be a real sticky mess!""
