I find that giving these an "egg wash" brushing prior to baking gives them that beautiful brown color - and I skip the melted butter step after they are done (really not necessary and if you really have to have the extra butter flavor you are better off making a clarified butter dip with some roasted garlic or garlic powder - in my humble opinion).

These came out wonderful - I made two batches, one lemon and one lime... The custard consistency is great - my only feedback would be to make an extra 1/2 batch of crust if you like the crust thicker, I found the batch of crust as written to be a bit thin, although great tasting! This came out beautifully... the only change i made was putting chopped, toasted pecans into the crumb topping. It's a chilly, cloudy day that was begging for something yummy to be in the oven. With the fireplace going and a fresh brewed pot of coffee we enjoyed this Apple crisp and it was perfect. I used 10 medium sized Fuji apples for the filling...

Wonderful recipe! I make these with chili, I make them for holidays and I make them 'just because'! :) They are delicious and the recipe does very well when doubled also. I NEVER write reviews for recipes - even the good ones - but I just had to write one for this corn muffin recipe... It's so easy and so good!
