My Activity

Reviewed Calamari Mediterranean

"This was a very nice use of calamari. I didn't take the time to roast the garlic and it was still very flavorful. I really liked the flavors from the ancho and parsley which paired well with the acid from the limes. Will absolutely make this this again."

Reviewed Potato Stew: Ajiaco

"I am really surprised that more folks have not tried and rated this recipe. I skipped the dried beef since I couldn't find any and added a little mote chorizo to compensate. I also threw in some galangal and a red pepper that were just sitting around. Very homey and satisfying."

Reviewed Mike Mills' Beef Ribs

"Wow, I am really going against the popular opinion. I was annoyed that the ingredients called for apple juice in a spray bottle and then never mentioned that process in the directions. The magic dust in combination with the sauces was too much. I think the ingredient list could be cut down and still achieve the same results. 2 tsp grated green"

Reviewed Asian Braised Beef Shank with Hot and Sour Shredded Salad

"The spices with the beef shank are a really nice change of pace and I am definitely adding this to my recipe file. I thought the shredded salad got lost with the beef so next time I plan to disregard the salad and maybe add a polenta base and bok choy side.""

Reviewed Braised Beef Shanks

"I didn't find anything really special or unique about the treatment of the beef shanks here but what was fun was the treatment of the parsnips. No one seemed to mention this piece so I thought I would point it out as a very nice touch that adds a needed texture and makes the parsnips almost sweet (in a good way).""

Reviewed Cumin-Scented Wheat Berry-Lentil Soup

"I was very hopeful about this recipe but in the end it just needed something else, but can't figure out what. The cumin didn't really come through as expected. Tried a little hot sauce the next day and that was not the missing ingredient either. I would skip it and find another way to use your Wheat Berries.

Reviewed Penne with Shrimp and Herbed Cream Sauce

"Very fast, very flavorful. I did not find the sauce runny, contrary to the other reviewers.

Reviewed Hoppin' John

"Very nice, simple, treatment. Don't leave out the scallions at the end, they lend a very nice flavor to the dish.
