Reviewed focaccia

WOW! An easy recipe and so delicious. I have topped with dried oregano and parmesan cheese and garlic. The olive oil makes it so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just perfect. I have made this every Friday for a month but it never lasts the weekend. Good tip from the show, make sure you make the "holy dimples" for the craggy look. Then...

Reviewed smothered pork chops

Feb 9, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

These are the most perfect (indoor) pork chops. Nothing beats grilled in my opinion but these are fantastic. I love the buttermilk tartness and the onion flavor in the gravy. I always buy pork chops with a little fat on them for extra flavor. The only thing different I did was back off the cayenne to 1/4 t. and that is just a matter of preference....

Reviewed Lemon-Garlic Shrimp and Grits

Absolutely delicious! The lemon was what sent it over the top. The only thing I did differently was add a bit more butter to the grits. And this served 2 hungry people instead of 4!!!! :)

Reviewed Southern Biscuits

These were very good biscuits. I was surprised that you use room temp shortening & butter but they were puffed up like no other biscuit I ever made. This made 7 HUGE biscuits. I used 1 t. of salt, b/c salt makes it more flavorful. Also I brushed on a little buttermilk on the tops before baking, keeps them from browning too much and a nice glisten."

The cake turned out perfectly, but the lemon is WAY too tart and too much for me. Makes you pucker up!!!!"

Reviewed Tuscan White Bean and Garlic Soup

Nov 4, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was fantastic! I served with toasted buttered croutons that I made since I didn't have the bread. Also I added about 3T. cornstarch to my cream to help thicken it, if you like a very thin soup, don't do that! I also changed the sage to 3 sprigs of fresh thyme, then decided to throw in some bacon bits for another flavor."

Reviewed Chicken Stew

Jul 6, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I thought this too bland also, but please note that the longer it sits, the better it tastes. I added a large clove of chopped garlic (why wasn't there garlic??), 1/2 t. dried oregano, 1 T. of lemon juice plus more salt and pepper. Used a small can of tomato paste (instead of 1 T.), white cannellini instead of red kidney beans and a 32 oz. box of"

Reviewed Beer Battered Onion Rings

May 18, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Very good, changed it up a bit, added cayenne to the dipping sauce, which was really delicious but I wanted some heat. Then after dipping rings in beer batter, I tossed them into Panko crumbs for EXTRA crispiness. Yummy!"

Well, the pie is SWEET for sure! But mine did not set, still runny after cool. Maybe a little flour in the filling might be called for. Looked beautiful, tastied yummy.""

Reviewed Green Bean Casserole

Mar 6, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

We were totally disappointed, I usually love Lee's recipes but this one missed the mark for us. It was very bland, we did not like the "crunchy" beans, and the bacon flavor didn't even show up.""

Reviewed Corn and Cheese Chowder

Feb 20, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Very delicious, I increased the flour to 1/2 c. for thicker chowder and added 1 c. sour cream at the end. We all loved it, I had the advantage of using my garden frozen corn, from the Buckeye State!""

Reviewed Egg-in-a-Hole

Jan 15, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I've been making these for years only called them "Toad in a Hole". They are a time saver b/c you don't have to make toast and fry eggs separately, it's all one process. I always toast the "Hole" cut out piece of bread for a little extra dipping. :)""

Reviewed Deluxe Coffee Cake

Jun 9, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

The first day when I made and served the cake, it seemed tasteless. The second day was better after it sat overnight but still not worthy of my family cookbook. Was not dry, just needed more flavor."
