Reviewed Throwdown's German Chocolate Cake with Coconut-Pecan-Cajeta Frosting, Chocolate Ganache and Coconut Whipped Cream

"I was looking for something special to make my Valentine this year and wanted to take on a new, baking challenge. This was both! Make no mistake, this cake takes time (especially if you are a first timer like me)! While this cake was not to my taste (due to the coffee component), to those with whom I shared, they loved it! The filling proved to be the most difficult part. Like others who posted that they had trouble getting the right consistency, I found a solution. I put the mixture back into the pan and add a slurry mix of cornstarch and milk. This did the trick and I got the perfect consistency! To finish, I sprinkled chopped pecans on top of the ganache and the presentation was beautiful. I would totally make this again!
