Reviewed Caesar Salad with Parmesan Crisps

Dec 23, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Although I haven't made the crisps, the recipe for the dressing is excellent! (I prefer just croutons, no tomatoes!)"

Reviewed Campanelle Pasta Salad

Nov 18, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Pretty good, but not five stars good! I too squeezed some lemon over it and I think that helped amp up the flavors."

Reviewed Sunday Morning Oatmeal

Sep 9, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I am not a big oatmeal person, but I make the microwave kind all the time for my kids. We all made this together and it was delicious. The bananas add a nice sweetness to the entire bowl, so it really doesn't need any sweetener....although a drizzle of maple syrup on top made it even better! "

Reviewed Ricotta Orange Pound Cake

Aug 12, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Good, but not great. I checked it a few times and had to leave it in for about 53 minutes because the center was still jiggly and it never really pulled away from the sides of the pan. Since the cake was real dark looking at that time, I took it out of the oven. In the end, all sides were on the dark side and tasted almost burnt, but the inside"

Reviewed Italian Pork Chili with Polenta

Aug 12, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

It's a nice change to typical chili and the polenta goes well with it, but wouldn't call it excellent. I'll make it again though."

Reviewed Zucchini Bread

Aug 12, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Can't rate it 5 stars, but it's real good! As others have said, it needs less sugar, and during my very first bite, I got an egg taste, but that seem to diminish the more I ate...maybe a little egg didn't get fully blended, but I think I'll try reducing the recipe by 1 egg next time."

Reviewed Pilgrim Meatloaf

Aug 12, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Pretty good, but not excellent. It's a nice twist on meatloaf and a nice change from the norm. Made the gravy too and it came out a little thinner than most. Would make again, but not very often."

Reviewed Grilled Catfish with Olive Tomato Relish

Aug 4, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Pretty good. The topping is good but the catfish is a little too bland and needs a little something extra than just salt and pepper."

Reviewed Grilled Chicken Paillard with Lemon and Black Pepper and Arugula-Tomato Salad

May 25, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Love it! Light yet still tasty and satisfying. Easy too, as you can quickly prep the chicken the night before and just throw it on the grill when you get home!"

Reviewed Pasta with Sun-Dried Tomatoes

May 25, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Excellent recipe and one of my favorite pasta salads. Great for potlucks, baby showers, and picnics! I agree it's a little on the salty side. I usually decrease the salt and cheese slightly and omit the capers. "

Reviewed Orange Olive Oil Cake

Feb 19, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Very good, but wouldn't call it outstanding. Agree with others that 25 min is too long for oven time, also not quite enough orange flavor. I had actually used an extra tablespoon full of fresh orange juice, but next time I'll add an extra dash of orange extract.""

Reviewed Apple Coffee Cake with Crumble Topping and Brown Sugar Glaze

Sep 25, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Excellent! I've made this four or five times now and it's my family's favorite dessert. I haven't changed a thing, but agree that a little less of the glaze would still be plenty, since it's pretty sweet to begin with.""

Reviewed Baked Penne with Roasted Vegetables

Aug 27, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Pretty good. The smoked mozzarella really adds a nice flavor to the dish, but the peas don't seem to belong!""

Reviewed Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cakes

Aug 23, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Tried this because of the 5-star rating after nearly 2,000 reviews, but I really don't understand all the hype! I love Paula, but this recipe is way too sweet, and, I really can't rave about a recipe if you have to warn people "trust me, it's cooked inside, it's supposed to look raw."""

Reviewed Whitefish with Lemon Vinaigrette

Jul 24, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Found the bean base bland, as well as the fish. The vinaigrette does help, but I feel like there are much better recipes out there for this type of entree."

Reviewed Shrimp and Sausage Jambalaya

Apr 9, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Real nice flavor; however, for whatever reason, I had tidbits of crunchy rice. I added a little more stock, and cooked it for a lot longer, but all that really did was make the other rice mushy. I am going to try this again, because the flavor was actually really good, but I'll try using only 2 cups of rice and see if that helps."

Reviewed Maple Cream Cheese Pots de Creme

Apr 9, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Although the flavor was good, I had little tiny specks of cream cheese throughout it, despite the cream cheese having melted completely into the cream/milk mixture. They also never set up right in the oven...I took them out after nearly one hour, and after being in the refrigerator for four hours, they were pretty soupy. Not worth making again."
