Reviewed Sweet Corn and Chicken Soup
"Um, for the reviewer that said this was "quick and easy to make" - - SERIOUSLY?? This took me TWO HOURS to make. I wish I would have tasted it more as I was cooking it because it turned out to be very bland. It had flavor - - but it was VERY subtle. We salted and salted to no avail once it was in our bowls. My step-daughter liked it, but she doesn't like spicy food. Really a bummer because it was soooo pretty when I was making the stock and it smelled really good! Won't make this again. (Interesting note: When I was at the store today, buying leeks and other stuff for addtional Aarti recipes - the cashiers asked me, "What are you MAKING?" lol)"
Reviewed Hoisin Ham 'n' Cheese
"Love Aarti. Slowly working my way through most of her recipes. I made this with the corn chicken soup (like on her show) and the whole thing took me two hours to cook. Everything looked and smelled great. This sandwich had mixed reviews in my house. My son took one tiny bite, my step-daughter took three bites, my husband really liked the hoison and ate all of his and half of our son's - - and I was doing good just to get through mine - although I did eat it all. I think I agree with the other poster that said the hoison is just overpowering (which it's probably meant to be). But you really have to like hoison sauce to dig this sandwich. I'd never had it before - - and I can't really compare it to anything else. Anyway, won't be making these again. :( Sorry Aarti!! I still love you!"
Reviewed Baked Samosas with Mint Chutney
"Made this for the Super Bowl. I was a little confused about the portions. Maybe someone else can explain it to me? She says cut 8 circles and then cut those in half (16 semosas, right? but then she says the recipe makes 8. Anyway, we ended up with 12 before we ran out of room on the cookie sheet (may have made them a little too big. This recipe took me about an hour and 10 minutes to make and I had help. My stepdaughter rolled out and cut the pastry for me. So give yourself plenty of time. Sounds like I'm doing nothing but griping about this recipe but we all really liked it. Husband's exact words, "Hon, this is pretty good." Next time I'd add a little more salt and not fill them so much so they're a little smaller. But they were soooo good. Thanks for the recipe, Aarti! :

Reviewed Coconut Toffee
"I made this recipe for a Valentine's Day party. BUT my store didn't have unsweetened coconut - - so I used sweetened. I love sugar, I love coconut, and I love Aarti. But this recipe with the sweetened coconut was waaaaay too sweet to take more than the tiniest bite. And I tried. (made a face every time). But I'm giving it five stars because I'M the one that screwed it up. It was super quick and easy to make, turned out perfect (cut out a tiny bit of coconut per previous reviews), and the cardamom ROCKED. I may try this again if i can get my hands on some unsweetened coconut. We ended up throwing the whole dang batch out. :( Broke my heart."
Reviewed Baked Samosas with Mint Chutney
"Made this for the Super Bowl. First off, it's not a cheap recipe. I spent at least $30 just on the pastry, mango, cardamom, and mint. So now I'll be making every recipe that uses cardamom that I can find. lol I was also a little confused about the portions. Maybe someone else can explain it to me? She says cut 8 circles and then cut those in half (16 semosas, right?) but then she says the recipe makes 8.
