I have been making pot roast for 55 years, and I'm sorry, but this is not a recipe for "the perfect pot roast". Adding the carrots at the beginning would turn them into overcooked pieces of flotsam and jetsam. One cup of vodka is far too much for this recipe. I have made this recipe before from an old family recipe, but with less vodka and far less heavy cream. The vodka does not cook off enough in the short cooking time required, so it would not be suitable to serve to children if a cup of vodka were used.""
