My Activity

Reviewed Chicken Cacciatore

"This recipe is full of yummy layers of flavor. From the browning of the chicken, sauteing the veg, adding the tomatoes .. the seasoning is spot on. I used more than a pinch of pepper flakes, also added some dried oregano along with the thyme bundle & bay leaves. Next time I am going to add chopped carrot to add to the flavor layer .. and more m"

Reviewed Crisp Potato Cakes

"I made these today for the first time. To my personal taste, the vegetable oil was too much. Also, I think given the amount of the potatoes, you should use 2 eggs to bind them better, (large eggs these days are really medium). Mine came out too greasy. Next time I will make them like my family always made them. Pat them with seasoned flour, then "

Reviewed Green Bean Casserole

"Since I came across this receipe in 2008, it has been one that I make every Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I use Campbell's Garlic mushroom soup instead of the regular mushroom soup. Also, when I drain my green beans with the chicken broth, I reuse it, along with the water needed to boil my potatoes. ""

Reviewed Marinara Sauce

"This is a good base marinara sauce, but it was bland. I added red pepper flakes, crushed basil & thyme, extra salt, and 4 cloves of garlic instead of only one. I did use San Marzano tomatoes. I did not have any celery, so that was omitted. I also added chicken broth to give it more depth in flavor .. I guess you could say I made this my own ma""

Reviewed Momma Neely's Pot Roast

"This is a very easy recipe, and the roast came out tender, but the wine was very strong, and I cut the amount in half. I added extra beef broth to it, but my husband found it too much. Next time I am going to use only the broth for the braising liquid, and add mushrooms to it. After slicing the beef, I returned it the sauce to keep it warm & mo""

Reviewed Simply Delicious Strawberry Cake

"This is a very tasty yummy cake, easy to make too. However, the recipe says to bake for only 20 min. This would have made a runny batter. Knowing that cakes take at least 30 min, I went for more time. Also, in the instructions for the frosting it says to add vanilla extract, it should say strawberry extract. Maybe someone is not proofreading before publishing. I also cut down on the confectioners sugar to 5 cups instead of the 7 suggested.
