I had to improvise a bit, I sauted 1/2 shallot and 1 lg clove garlic, minced fine in 1T of each olive oil and butter. Then I followed as written. I did not have enough sugar so I added some aguave syrup, and then I added a mexican type of rub ( I had made this & had in the pantry ).
